VS Motorsports NASA GTS-4 Shake Down Race!!

Last weekend we had our first shake down race with our E92 M3. We actually did not get a chance to test it before, so our race was the test. Everything was good with the car but the set up had to be tweaked since this is a new build with new parts. Plus due to our time constraints from switching the car from SCCA T2 class to NASA GTS-4 we did not have the time to make the car at the edge of the class. This weekend we were about 200lbs over weight but we can already tell when its all set up correctly we will be flying.

The race was at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven Mi. Our fastest lap was a 1:39.2 on Sunday with some used tires. Wish we had a fresh set of BFG R1S for that race but we decided to keep those for testing when the car is at the correct weight to power ratio. So once we get the car set up we are going to Autobahn Country Club for some testing. This will be the best place for us because we can use Autobahn as a bench mark of where the car should be at.

Right now we have the car back at the shop and we started the weight loss plan. All the windows are taken out to be replaced with lexan. The console taken out to remove the heater core. Plus some more and we can ballast the rest of the weight.

We want to thank BFGoodrich for supplying us with the awesome R1S tires and techs at VS Motorsports for staying late and getting the car done in time.

That wing is out of this world. How does it do the adjustments automatically? What type of sensors did you have to mount?

There is a box that is mounted in the trunk area. You can control what G's you want the wing to change pitches. For example at .3g of braking the wing pitches to the selected braking angle. At .2 g of acceleration it pitches to the straightway angle.

That was actually one of our customers. His right rear tire ended up coming apart by the end of the race
