[QUOTE=stan@dinan;1800640]
The drivability stays close to stock as much as possible, although the Dinan Performance Engine Software does give out 50% more boost during the same time frame compared to a stock 335i, enhancing the aggressiveness on the spool up. This creates a driving feel that is unequalled in smooth, rapid power delivery with massive midrange torque. <Untrue lol

Software cost is $2,000.00, The oil cooler cost is $2,000.00 as well.
^ouch

We believe with proper research it is possible to increase HP to well in excess of 400 hp and torque to over 450 lb/ft!! This of course with great reliability. <nice
[QUOTE]

eh, sounds promising, would like to see dynos, might be too little too late though... and $4,000 is too much $.

Did your oil temps get any hotter than before the tune?

I was going to get it, but I don't have an oil cooler. Sooooo.....we'll see if I throw an oil temp code this spring. If I do, and I can get an oil cooler off the bulletin, I may go Dinan. If not, waiting on Helix to see how it looks....

Ya just labor to reflash the Dinan costs more than a complete JBS2 system plus Hot pill?!

But it does sound like a quality tune. Can't wait for dyno results and track numbers

Maybe Terry can come up with another little device that ups the water pump flow when the water temp rises above some threshold? He can call it the COOL pill

To go with the HOT pill and the DOWNPill.

I'm surprised no one else has noticed that the Dinan quoted numbers DO NOT include RW Torque, rather, all Torque numbers quoted are at the flywheel (FW).

Applying the Drive train loss factor (as given by Dinan), I calculate the maximum torque gain at the rear wheels = 87 lb-ft

In summary, at the Rear Wheels,

maximum HPdelta= 71 HP @ 4,300 rpm

maximum TORQUEdelta = 87 lb-ft @ 4,300

(see Dinan quoted numbers at http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...12#post2858412 )

I have to admit the water pump reprogramming is a pretty neat trick, but it probably performs the same as using a 160 degree thermostat to keep coolant temps down.

Would also like to know how they got access to the ECU code. Does anyone know definitively if they cut a deal with BMW or reverse engineered?

Dinan Flash Makes sense in one case only

If your dealer allows you to capitalize the flash then I would get this upgrade in a heartbeat.
  • You pay for only part of it
  • And you immediately get an implied warranty from BMW if they capitalized the flash
It would make a lot of sense in this case......

yeah, as i posted yesterday, the current v2.02 map increases 85hp/85tq at the wheels... expect that to increase with 2.03, as 2.00 was 110+ at the wheels on torque. After 5years using vishnu products with not a single issue with 4 cars that have been custom tuned by Shiv and now a 5th running his standard v2.02, i say get your money's worth.

I already know why dinan taking their time release their reflash the ecu. 1st they did alot of R & D on the oil cooler from different manfacture. To meet Dinan standard, they need to get all of the spec according to dinan guideline.
2nd Once they have contract with the manfacture for production line. they will start doing their R & D on the oil cooler. R & D will take long time to achieve their standard. Dinan is international well know tuner company.. It also come a huge price tag at the end. 3rd they need to remap the whole spectrum of the powerband. It including FMIC, OIL cooler, Exhaust system. intake system. After many extensive R & D on the their end, they can release to the public. Dinan do aware driver on 335i will push it the speed limit to the edge of it. This is my theory. I do strongly believe that Dinan waited this long to see which directional will they go aim for . Many Tuner come before Dinan already come out with their Piggy back chip such as .. Hex, vishnu, xede, JBs2, RD sport , turbo turner, ViP tuning Some push a little bit of power such as TT. some push it to the max ie Hex. Dinan sitting back to see which company will blow up their engine first. lol After sitting in the dark watching many tuner tunning their stuffs for clients, Dinan feel tunning this car is safe to do so.

then i picked it up!

Just got home from my "spirited" driving and all I can say is OMG it is fast from the high amount of torque that you can feel to the steady but really quick increase in hp as you gain rpm's. While daily driving is still a wounderfull experience and such. When you drop it down a gear or two you can fully tell the cars saying push it in... ALL THE WAY. The thing that makes it stand out more then the piggybacks availible is that it feels like a completely different car in the sense that it feels like a new car and the throttle is completely different while the piggy backs are awsome but it is like Dinan dropped a more powerfull CPU in a old computer. ( I work on comps).

Bottom line is it is fast, really fast dont let its numbers of torque and hp fool
you, because it delivers and you get a warranty

ask away on questions. and doing the dyno tmrw
I kind of figured it'd be something like that

I just liked that anime... kudo's for that insight. and a Fuck u I look forward to my upload i was talking to myself.

+ a dinan lsd, and maybe even a dinan badge

DINAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!! =) biatch to the mutha fuck'n 335'rs =) don't be a liar! i know u whip your willy, so silly, to spits a philly cheese... and drive faster cuz u aint never gonna get a bitch! CEPT a hoe, that u can pay for and when you see her, she don't know u lol... j/k last one on this post... I'll stop at 69

actually it probably just took them this long to figure out how to get power out of flash vs. piggyback without it being reset every time you go to the dealer... their product is unique to the market but it's sorta backwards in that usually piggybacks cost more than a flash.

It is an OIL COOLER!!! $200 for most applications but $2000 for the Dinan logo..... Demand more for less!

Making the the electric water pump work harder will result in increased fuel consumption, no? Just wondering

on 2.00 a few people got CEL when hitting 140+mph, that was corrected in both 2.01 and 2.02, 2.02 makes about 15hp more at the wheels than 2.01 and even more at redline due to higher boost... this is the first map on v2 that had a slightly higher hp than tq as the prior maps put down like 385+tq at the wheels, this one is more like 350-370. Shiv mentioned he intends to bring that extra torque back in 2.03 with the 2.02 reliability and hp...
