Maybe its state by state..?

The trouble is I live only a few kilometres from them and it suits me work wise etc.

This will be the last time I go there (if I can get through to service) only because its a recall. I will not be spending my time there ever again for service or anything.
Coming from lexus ownership I must say I'm appalled by bmw's service also at my local dealer, they are a bunch of pompous jerks in general whereas with my lexus they would pick the car up for you and leave you a loan car to use and were always friendly helpful and nothing was ever a problem...

Check this equivalent thread over on the 1addicts Aus page. A lot of us got our letters and have booked/been to dealership

Thats annoying because mine was in 2 weeks ago and they did it whilst it was in for an unrelated issue....

Called up the dealer and apparently my vehicle is not affected on this recall.

Garage List
Hi

I made contact with my Stealership and interestingly, notwithstanding my E90 having been manufactured during the March 2007/February 2011 dates, apparently not all cars were fitted with the defective part. There were runs of crap parts and it is only those that are being replaced.

I guess this is a good thing because knowing my luck they would replace it and damage something else in the process.

Has anyone else been given similar feedback...

Yeah I asked the question when I called in and they said the fault depends on which country the car was manufactured.

Mine's in getting done now..

I asked if they'd done many, and were told mine is about the 6th one through (Rolfe BMW - Canberra).

They said they've had to cap it at 200 bookings due to parts, which didn't take long to fill.

If you're going to get it done - get in early!

I didn't get a letter either. Mine car is a 2009 e90 330d sport and was built in South Africa.

Maybe the SA plant used the non-fault part...

Got my letter a couple of weeks ago, I will get it done next time it is serviced. Funny thing is that I had to take it in to get the oil topped up the other day, and there was no mention. I would have at least expected a "Did you get your letter?" after they scanned the key.

Why would you lose the coding dude? Isn't this just an unplug the battery type procedure?

Should be completely independant from what i have heard the only way your coding is removed by dealers is when they upgrade the software version

I'm not sure, they may update the DME for some strange reason for adjusted power/voltage levels.

Just curious.

Im no expert, but voltage will definitely stay the same from what I have read its just the battery terminal connections which require replacement, but you never know what else the techs my do I guess as you pointed out!

Can I just rock up or do I have to call them and book it in?
I received the letter about a month ago now lol.

Edit: re-read the letter, gotta make an appointment!
Hopefully I can fit my car in for today!

Most dealers have had a waiting list. Example I had to book mine in for two months later and finally got done last week.
