The SLK is only a two seater, it would be compared to the Z4, while the CLK is a four seater. Also the SLK is a hard top convertible the CLK is soft top.

The SLK is a small roadster along the lines of the BMW Z4. The CLK is a 4 seat coupe/convertible along the lines of the 3 series coupe and convertible. That is why it gets more discussion on this forum, because it is the closest thing Mercedes has to a E92/E93 competitor.
