I change my oil every 5k miles. I'm not sold on the whole 15k miles thing. IU haven't done an oil change on my own on this car yet. The whole no dipstick thing irks me. Since I am out of warranty, I might get to this soon.

during that later 50k, you need to do
3 or 4 oil changes with wiper blades and air filter reaplcement, one or two cabin filters, front and rear brakes and rotors, spark plugs, brake fluid, steering fluid, coolant fluid, differential fluid, and tranny fluid, water pump and thermostat. those are things top of my head. it's still cheaper to DIY but maintenance plan also save some time and effort. also you have to fight to get coolant, differential, and transmission fluids done under maintenance program since bmw label it as "lifetime fluid" and most of SA in most of dealers take it literally as "life time" which is idiotic if you ask me... also like water pump and thermostat, it's recommened to replace around 100k but it's not a requirement so unless you have problem and have warranty, they will try not to do any un-necessary service. so i guess that will be more of warranty than maintenance program. i actually had gone into arguement once with SA and had to show him what manufacturor's definition of "lifetime" in these transmission oil (ZF clearly says 80k to 120k km which is 50k to 75k miles) and he was actually surprised by the fact... some will say it at 100k which at that point your extended maintenance will expire and your car computer will not say anything about those unlike oil change or spark plugs, it will indicate...

In-service date and date you signed the purchase contract means the same. Some services are calendar based and reflect the build date of the car, for example, the brake fluid is every two years: my car was built in Jan 2007 so the brake fluid flush was due Jan 2009, not April 2009 - April 2007 was when I bought the car.
