Manic Motorsports Tune
Last night I was lucky enough to get a Manic Motorsport flash tune on my car.
I have been running JB4 (Map 5) for the good part of 2 years, but I have never been completely happy with it. It constantly felt like there was a slight delay when accelerating. I had also flashed the Alpina transmission file thinking it would address the issue, but sadly this just made it worse. Fast forward to last night I got a call from the guys at Auto Modelista to say that Manic Motorsport had a tune for my car and if I was interested in getting this flashed at a substantial discount for that night only. Off I went to RTR to get this done. All I can say is that I am very impressed and now happy with the tune. There is no more delay in any gear / rpm and the car feels like it just wants to pull. Looks like I will be pulling out the JB4 this weekend and will post it on the forums for sale. My car has about 120xxx on the dial and is completely stock (Not even dci). Was suggested to get the car walnut blasted (power could be down due to excess carbon) and maybe run a water / meth setup to keep this in check. They did suggest IC, DP, intake would help push the power close to 300 (which got me a little excited) Also this is a conservative tune, unfortunately I ran out of time to get the more aggressive tune on the car. They said they will load this on next time I am down to see them. Hopefully I can get another back to back run against the conservative tune vs aggressive to see how much more power I can really get. Power figures were nice, but the increases in torque is what really blew me away. Also there are no boost maps as there was too much mucking around to get these in. Anyway pictures says a thousands words, so here are a few thousand for you. Stock run Jb4 map 1 Jb4 map 5 Manic vs stock Manic vs Jb4 (Map 5) After the dyno run and a quick spin (was raining so couldn't really get on it) I had a chat to the guys and was recommended a forge IC, forge CP with DV's, intake (covered) and DP (they stock all forge gear) would really give the car much more power. No mods.
Completely stock car (Don't even have DCI). Will need to try and stay off the throttle after this tank to see if I get better fuel mileage as the AF is much better. Next stage will be DCI / intake of some sort, Forge intercooler, Forge Charge Pipe with DV and VSRF Down pipes then back for a custom tune. Will need to get the car walnut blasted and should see another aggressive increase from where I currently am. Will wait for the weekend to get the car re-flashed with the aggressive tune to see how much more. They say it should land on / around the 250 mark and about 570 nm, but will have to wait and see. |

AFR's look to be very rich on the new flash... The JB4 Map5 AFR's look alot better.
Also, you could have just gained more torque by the flash increasing boost - so not seeing this plotted on the dyno chart is pretty poor - It takes 5 mins to connect to the line, why did they not do this?? Sounds strange to me!! The new JB4 G5 units, which i believe you may be able to modify your G4 board into a G5 will give you superior boost control. I'm 303rwkw with Meth, you won't hit 300 with just a FMIC and Flash. You will need meth or e85 as a minimum. |

As I said I will be getting the other remap on the weekend and hopefully get it back on the dyno. Will try and get the boost readings this time.
Also I have the JB4 G5 board. Will re-enquire about the AFR. What shoud I be looking at for this? Do you have a dyno with what it should look like? |

You won't see 300 without e85, meth and supporting mods. I run fbo, meth, 17L e85 per tank, bb flash and jb4, and that got me 299kw. Nice figures though for a stock car + tune. |
