sounds awesome, any chance for a preorder group buy?

How about the new Cold Air Intake? Any photos / information about the differences to the initial version?

Alpina,

I have the new CAI at my house to. I am going to do some side by side comparisons with the current version along with a full review of the piece. The filter is larger, the y-pipe has a larger diameter, and the single pipe sections have a larger diameter. The installation is supposed to be easier as well with, but until I install it I cannot comment on that. I will try to knock these reviews out in the next couple of weeks.

Sounds good! Looking forward to more details about this. Maybe once you remove your current CAI, you could do a photo with both the old and new version to see the differences, that would be quite interesting.

That is definitely part of the plan. Each item will be photographed side by side with its replacement section so the different will be clear.

I just switched back from CAI to DCI because the damn CAI from UR was always so hard to work around when going into the engine bay...it was in the way and to get around it I'd have to get the car jacked up, take the driver's side wheel off the car, take the liner off, take the cone off and THEEEN get the pipe out so I can get to DVs, TMAP, throttle body/cp connect, meth nozzles...there's just way too many too important connections there to always have to deal with this...from the looks of it the new STETT CAI looks to be much easier to work with in this respect as it seems to disconnect up in the engine bay, true?

Hey dzenno! Yes it's easier to install and work around with our new design. The lower portion of the intake is in two pieces so you can disconnect the y-pipe and the mid pipe without having to do all of that you described.

I'm sure if you publish the data point comparison between OEM/Stage1/Stage2 and have a reasonable price (in-line with what's discussed in this thread), a lot of us will subscribe to your group buy

The cold start issue is a concern. We track our cars but some of us also live in regions where it gets freaking cold in the winter. I can get oil temps to 300F in <10mins on the track but it takes 15mins for the needle to move off 160F in the winter at 20F temps, same car.

There will be more information up very soon. If you're a regular on the track then the stage 2 is going to be up your alley. For guys like you, our in-line thermostat option would be ideal. Extreme cold temps like that require a cold start aid.

That price and "almost" half that price is quite a delta, and that's from 2 unofficial posters. I'd rather wait for Stett's official pricing.

agreed. the TS on 1addicts has been working with stett (who haven't pubically announced a price) and he has the first 135i fitted oil cooler. i know it's not official, but it may be the next best thing.

I know I inferred this question earlier but does the kit come with ducting to increase air flow to the cooler? Without more air the improvements may be very marginal. With all of the different bumpers out there it can be expensive for the Mfr. to do this.

Very interested to see what this (stage 2) does at 100% for 20 minutes.

+1 Without increased airflow you cannot benefit completely from the bigger cooler as the heat can not be transferred away. I have the VK oil cooler which brought the temps down a bit but still not enough to go full several laps in a row. I installed the 335is airducts this weekend and that makes a huge difference. (see my separate thread about this)

The perfect airduct would be closed so the air cannot take a route around the cooler but is pressed through.

Here is the pricing on the kits:

135i/335i stage 1 retail: $645
135i stage 2 retail: $685
335i stage 2 retail: $735

The thermostat kit retail: $169

As mentioned previously we will be offering a group buy in short time as soon as we wrap up the last few details on the kits.
