Exclamation 2007 335i ''Limp Mode'' on the Nurburgring :(

I went on the Nordschleife last week with my 2007 E90 335i and unfortunately, even before i came to the circuit, the car switched into ''limp mode'' without any reason ! I restarded the engine and didnt push it hard on the circuit, but it switched a second an third time into limp mode during my 2nd and 3rd lap

On youtube, ''Drd4all'' told me to come on your forum to get helped, so I did
I want to add that I havent any engine start problems or power lost during driving. The car is stock and has approximatively 40 000 miles on the clock.

here is the inboard camera :

I heard it could be a problem of the oil pump or vanos, are there other origins known ?

Thanks a lot for your help

It sounds like it may be the injectors. That really sucks! I would move this post to the Turbo Engine Section for better help.

wow of all all places for it to fail. most people are scared of the HPFP failing on a highway. i cant even imagine how terrifying it must be on the 'ring.

That's a horrible place for that to happen. I'd be more pissed than anything that I went to the 'ring to have THAT happen.

Do you have a code reader at hand? Unfortunately there are quite a few things which can go wrong on these cars.

Naa doesnt sound like the FP, allthough it could be. He said he was not experiencing any symptoms.

What was the weather like? Oil temp over 250? This seems like its an engine temp issue. Looked hot out.

No, but the car will be analysed by the BMW dealer tomorrow. I know there are plenty of things which can go wrong on the early 335i... looks like BMW has developped the engine a little bit too fast !

The weather was nice, around 80 degrees fahrenheit. The oil temp was approximatively at 275, which actually wasnt the first time. I already went to the Ring before and the engine reached 284 degrees without any consequences

Hi there,

our BMW dealer detected a vanos and camshaft failure ! Both parts will be replaced. Fortunately, BMW pays 100 % of the parts (3600 dollars) and 50% of the labor (1400 dollars).

The car should be working fine again !
