Any updates, anyone tuned yet with cobb V3? I've been searching for the right "tuner" for my car. I'm not convinced with all the jb4/procede, i know they seem to be the best bang for the buck but i guess i still trust the good ol' flash better. The only way for me to get a protune down in south florida would be to rent a dyno and do a remote dyno etune. Is PFT still around?

You can get a protune without a dyno and PTF still around. If you don't have any local tuners within a comfortable driving distance, they would be your best choice.

The actual tuning will be no different whether you are using the V2 or V3. The V3 is very nice (I have one) but it isn't going to make your car run any differently than flashing with a V2.

Are you running an upgraded LPFP? Was this a max tune or did you keep it on the safe side? Can you post the dyno graphs and how does the car feel lag wise? Sorry for so many questions but I am trying to decide between going with procede/openflash stack with flex fuel sensor or sticking with my cobb and getting pro tuned for E85 and not sure which way to go yet but I do know I want to run straight E85.

Thanks!

Some nice figures you gent posted here from different e-tuners.

Question: I'm still on e30 map from Cobb with 6 gal e+the rest 93 and Michelin Sport Pilot Plus (or whatever that is), I couldn't launch in 2nd gear at 2k rpm. It will fish tail like nemo

I need better tires? LSD? Both?

you might need better tires or lower the psi on them and also feather the gas pedal

Just a quick note for those who have read about my (mis)adventures with a local tuner. Jake, from PTF did contact me and we are now in the process of dialing my car in. The first MAP was good, with second being slightly better. Can't wait for the final product! Thanks Jake!

Worked with Jake @ PTF on getting the right tune for my '11 335is. Wasn't after a HP monster but want a smooth, predictable tune that won't kill the engine in the long run. I was running the COBB OTS Stage 1 + FMIC agressive tune but always felt like it was a little harsh and the power was less controllable. The car now drives like a refined coupe should but can unleash hell when I want it to. Boost comes in later in the revs but pulls much harder up top. All logs on the same stretch of freeway, about the same temps, with a slight uphill grade. Can't say enough good things about the experience so I'd recommend Pro Tuning Freaks anyday.

This is exactly what I'm after aswell. How did you communicate this to PTF? How many times did the tune go back and forth for testing/refining? I also belive that the power from COBB stg1 aggressive would be enough but I'm definitely after more "reliable" and "safe" power. Could even aim for max power - 10% or something like that just as long as I know I won't be putting the car under too much stress..

Just email jake@protuningfreaks.com and communicate your power goals and any potential concerns or particular drivability requests. The length of the process depends largely on the particulars of the car and your requests but the average is usually just a few revisions start to finish.

Took about 8 different maps to get what I was looking for but Jake had plenty of patience. We started tuning with the OTS Stage 1+FMIC aggressive and a goal of more of a track setup than hp monster. It gets a little confusing doing this over several weeks and is difficult at times to feel changes but Jake could see them in the logs. We just keep looking for the right settings to keep the car smooth. Although not my goal, I went from a gas pedal stomp (not with LC) 0-60 of around 5.1 seconds to about 4.5 seconds measured by the AP. Nice and refined in the low revs but you can really tell a difference when the RPMs climb. Car drives great and I don't have all the angry sounds that I was getting on the OTS aggressive maps.

Thx for your answer, really looking forward to this. My COBB is in customs now so I'll get hold of it any day now

Thx man, I'll sort of have you as a reference point for my tuning session(s)
By the way, did you go for throttle settings more like linear throttle or more like stock?

Good question...and I can't answer with 100% confidence but we started with the ST COBB map but it feels a lot closer to the LT now that you mention it.

Bringing this back from the way dead... have Cobb protunes gone by the wayside? I don't see much info out there beyond this old thread. A buddy of mine is now certified as a Cobb protuner, and I'm weighing this vs. the MHD tunes. Any reason to go with one over the other?

I think Cobb is pretty much a dead platform, most everyone is MHD or MHD + JB4. As far as I know Cobb haven't been actively developing the platform for some time.
