How does one continue to pay for further service? Would I be able to make my own account?

Yes, I would give you all account details to get it up and running, and from that point on, you can either go to a verizon kiosk and pay, or you can pay online....there are options to pay for enough to then make payments monthly, every 3 months, every 6 months etc.
And its prepaid so should you not need it or want to pay anymore, the device would just be shut off, as there is no contract.

Yes, unlimited data, and you pay monthly. Plans are about $15 per month, if you pay for more months at once the price comes down a little but thats the starting point of plans....
