They're probably lying about selling the car. I would call them up first and pretend to be interested in the car and see if it's available. Even better is if you can find someone in area to go to the dealer and pretend to be interested in that car. The car is still listed on their website so I'm betting they still have it.

they definitely still do...but you're going to have a heck of a battle getting them to sell it for that price....
the internet is your only real viable option and hope that people call and harass 'em

As if we didn't already know that car dealerships were infested with the shadiest people on Earth...

People really expect too much from these guys, lol.

update

just thought i'd update you as i've put this behind me.
dealer never did honor the auction. ebay was totally useless.
this is the kind of sleaze most of us expect from car dealers so i'm not surprised.
i am surprised about ebay and i think if buyers were aware of ebay motors being non binding, they probably wouldn't bother to bid.

the dealer did email me to ask that i remove my negative feedback. i didn't bother to reply. i'm not wasting any more time as it wouldn't get me anywhere.
bought another FJ locally. lesson learned.

thanks for the support guys.

Wow....car dealers...enough said. There is a reason they have one of he worst reputations by consumers. Because most of it is true.

so you never went to the news stations or local papers, etc..? That's the minimum you should have done to let the public know how that dealership treated you. Now it'll just allow them to do something like this again in the future.

i think the most effective thing he could have done was leave the feedback. no better way to warn buyers. Especially when the dealer already has low feedback. it's the nail in the coffin, so to speak.
I can feel what the OP is saying, sometimes it's not worth the effort to pursue things further.
