I have been researching what is the best way to get nice sound out of my soon to be arriving e92 335i. The only exhaust i would even think of putting on the vehicle would be the BMW Performance Exhaust, but due to the current economic situation, it wouldnt be the smartest money spent. I have also read about the Golf Tee mod, but came accross a thread about a disaster story from someone and decided not to go that route. I have read about downpipes and tips changing the sound of the car to be deeper in tone.

What do you guys suggest would be the best route, without going to a full catback system?

I would recommend a quick search of the site. I know a lot of guys posted sound clips and video of their various exhausts. To me thats the best way to decide, read and listen to the audio clips

Well, you are in SoCal so I would just get in that forum, see who has what exhaust you like, and I am sure they would be more than happy to meet up and let you hear it. I mean, just this weekend at the Euro meet in Irvine there must have been 5 different exhausts on 335s?

DiMisa Tips with a 2nd cat delete? i believe that would sound nice but wouldnt a 2nd cat delete get me in some trouble with the dealer?

Then just keep stock exhaust and get downpipes. I think thats what you want. And keep your cats.

Theirs some guy selling UR downpipes for 450$ in teh F/S section. I think its UR not sure.....

In my opinion RR Downpipes coated black is thw best.
