Alarm System

Is all 335i equipped with alarm system? Just bought an used 2007 e92 335i from a car trading dealer (they imported lots of used car such as M.Benz and BMW..from USA, manufacture year 2006~2008). My e92 has the indicator lamp under the inside rearview mirror, but when I locked the door with the car remote, there were no flashes from the lamp. How can I find out if my car is equipped with OEM alarm or not....??? Thanks....!!

there's probably other ways to check, but one way is to pop open the roof console - there should be a electronic box there (motion sensor) if you have the alarm

usually if it doesn't flash, pretty good chance you don't have an alarm. can also check for the hood sensor. it would be towards the right half of the engine bay, about 3/4 the way back. spring loaded unit.

If the red clown-nose under the mirror blinks when you lock it, then you have alarm.
You can always add alarm. Your car is prewired for it.

Lock the car and kick it. If the alarm goes off, voila. :P

On a serious note, an alarm is a $450 option.

Just opened the hood and did not find any "spring loaded unit". Guess my e92 did not have the OEM alarm system....
Thanks for helping..!!

You do not have the OEM alarm system installed but you are pre-wired for the alarm. The '07 models models came pre-wired for the alarm... just a few pieces need to be installed and activated by the dealer... not too expensive.

On another note... Take the clow-nose off the nose of the car first... (hint hint... the bow needs to GOOOO)

The sales manager did that and I took it off before I drove the car out of the dealer...

you could also pull the left rear wheelwell cover off and if there is a siren mounted at the top of the wheelwell then you have an alarm, or you could just assume that you dont have one because it does not chirp when you lock and unlock the doors

Has to be ordered with the car initially or installed by the dealer - $400 + labor here in the states. I had owned 2 5 Series before ordering my 335xi and was surprised when the arming sound didn't go off when i took delivery of the car. I just assumed it had an alarm

it's pretty cheap/inexpensive to do it yourself. only crappy thing is that you need to get it programmed for it to work.

just curious, how much did you pay for the e92 after it got imported?

I paid about USD$55,600 for this used 2007 e92. Lots of taxes for import cars.
Listed price for a brand new e92 335i is about USD$106,250. And these two cars' prices will double up if they are in Singapore...!!
