Datal1's Aegean Blue e92 335i Intro & Build

Hi guys,

Been lurking around for a while, thought I'd start posting now I've started work/modding.

Have owned an e36 318is, e46 330ci and now my e92 335i. Tried a merc in between, but that didn't last long.

I bought this a 4 months ago and haven't touched it as such yet.

It's a pretty rare colour I've been told, Aegean Blue Metallic. Hard to photograph, depending on the lighting its a blue, then looks metallic, then looks greeny. In person looks different to all the photos. It's an Individual 335i with M-Sport kit and whatever else these packages come with.

Mods so far:
- JB4
- DCI
- Alpina B3 TCU flash

Mods to do:
- M3 rear spoiler
- Front lip
- Coilovers
- Maybe new wheels
- Catless downpipes
- FMIC
- Brake upgrade
- BMW Performance Exhaust
- New angel eye globes
- Rear Diffuser
- Better tyres!

Only just started modding this weekend with the JB4, DCI and trans flash by Steven at Active Motorwerke.

I haven't been able to really see how the jb4 performs yet as my first real run revealed a misfire in cyl #1. I've got new spark plugs and a new coil pack on the way so I'll install them this week and then see how it goes.

Will post my opinion on the TCU flash shortly below.

When's the next meet guys?! Keen to catch up with some of the other Melb members. Met Elmo at Active while he was getting his JB4 installed, car looks awesome in person!

Dom

Welcome to the world of 335i modding! You have a well proven list of mods done/planned which will transform your car. I'd have new tyres higher up your list - ditching the RFTs is a MUST!!!

I like the Aegean Blue - a rare colour indeed on an E92 as it is "Individual" only. I think first seen on the last of the E36 M3s (a mate had one a few year back).

Looking forward to seeing your updates.

I second the m steering wheel. Definitely a lot better than stock.

Thanks all.

With the M steering wheel, what are the real differences between that and mine? I can't see too much apart from smooth leather instead of perforated and the M shifters, unless its the shifters you mean are much better?

Alpina B3 Tcu Flash Review

ALPINA B3 TCU FLASH REVIEW

First impressions: Definitely worth doing if you get the opportunity

I instantly could feel the stronger and quicker shifts when in S and M modes. Almost feels like a whole new gear box. Some might find it a bit too harsh but I think it's great, shifts exactly when you want it to.

Big fan of it now showing what gear the car is in when in D mode (D1, D2, D3 etc). Same applies to S mode.

The only issues I have is that it still doesn't shift into 6th when in S mode, 5th is as far as it goes so need to manually shift it or put back into D. Not a big problem though.

D mode I find could do with some work, as others have said it shifts far too early and won't hold gears very long. I would have been fine if it was the same as D mode without a flash. Ideally for me it would hold a bit longer and respond with a quick downshift if the accelerator is pushed quickly.

All in all, no regrets and would recommend

Perhaps I need to re-title it "wish list"!....all in time though haha

Probably won't do many more mods for a couple months, starting a new business once I get a council permit and expect at least 2 months of initial losses that i'll have to fund myself before reaching BEP

Steering paddles are different set up too!! upshirt (pull right paddle) downshirt(pull left paddle) and the steering is slightly thicker.

It does shift into 6th when in S mode around 120kmh.
P.S. Welcome to E90Post.

Ahhh lol thanks for clearing that up. Haven't gone to 120kmh in S since getting it done. Shifting at 100kmh in 5th to 6th would have been perfect though given our speed limits around here

Yes just doing some testing with my car first.
Advan and BMR will offer the flash from around the 15th August all going well.

Welcome Dom!

Very clean car in person and the colour never seen that on a e92, very unique.

Get the BMW perf exhaust and catless downpipes so we can cruise to the city after dark and make alot of noises hahaha

Hope you get the misfire sorted so you can have some fun with the JB4

Welcome! Nice E92, don't think I've ever seen that colour before on an E9X. Good to see you have your mod list all worked out haha
