why do it..it looks hella clean! I know some 335 guys don't like debadging cause they don't want to be mistaken for a 328 which is stupid cause our exhaust setup is different..

I like the matte/gloss black badges. I have it on my car. I like the idea of still having a badge yet not always looking like I have one.

i would definitely never debadge any of the M cars....but trust me, the 3 looks so much cleaner without the badge. it adds symmetry and reduces clutter on the rear end.
the badge is essentially a useless feature....those who know jack about cars may need it, but do you really care what they think anyway?? it will be obvious to the enthusiast....335i = dual exhaust |

I'm with the "looks cleaner" camp. I debadged my (please hold your laughter until the end) RSX Type-S and I thought it just looked really slick. And even though it wasn't a consideration when I did it, in the back of mind I just hoped some ricer punk would mistaken me for a base RSX. Plus, it throws the cops for a loop, I was stopped for speeding and the ticket described my car as a blue honda sedan, and not a black acura coupe. But I iz all growed up now. Still up in the air about the 335, haven't seen any debadged pics yet, plus I wasn't super careful about the Acura and it left small scratches in the paint.

i debadged my car not because its a 328 but because it doesnt look clean with my white/black contrast
i know i have a 328 and im damn proud of it! I dont have to hide it by taking off numbers on a trunk

it all comes down to personal preference. debadging your car doesn't mean your trying to fit it to look like other models but it makes your car sleek and clean. in the end, to each his own. it's just like this, why change your orange reflectors to painted ones? why change your chrome grills to matte black/gloss black? to some they are good enough and to others... you know what i mean.

I did it because I didn't like the badge and I thought it was gay so I just took it off.
If I wanted to hide the fact that I drive a 335i then I would have converted it to a m3 and now that i think is stupid. Why convert your car to look like another? Instead spend the money on making it look different and fit your personality or spend it on something else[ hookers! ].

The same with my 335i. First thing I did was getting rid of the badge on the back. I like things clean and symetric. Anyway, nobody can be fooled by taking away the badge. An M can be easy recognized without any badge (if you need a badge to tell you, you have not really a clue about cars). The same for the 335i, the double exhaust tells enough Leaving the badges on I find even a bit showing off... |

I've actually seen tons of M3's in So Cal that were debadged... at least 6 that I've counted in the past that I've seen on road. Yet you still hear the V8 sound coming out of the exhaust, and not a modded N54 engine sound. As I've said before, debadging is cleaner looking on some cars. But chose not to debadge my current E92 since it flows with the window trim and IMO it looks like the trunk has been replaced or repainted. Otherwise, I've done it tons of times in the past so it's no big does removing or replacing emblems. |

Debadged E92 335i here. I debadged because when I got my VRS bootlid spoiler in 07, I figured that it was going to have to be debadged because of teh angle. But I ended up liking it mad.
Some people have said to me, I would never debadge a 335i. Someone said this once, and I love the quote, "The engine is for me, not for them". Bimmer people will know my car is a 335i, but it fucks with non bimmer people. I get asked all the time what model it is. its hilarious frankly.... BUT...I do think some people debadge to hide the lower model number, but not everyone. |

Debadged for a cleaner look. I like symmetry and this completes the trunk. Maybe I would keep it if there was another badge on the left side of the trunk.

I've owned M3s in the past and I've debadged them. I have a 335 and I debadged it. If there weren't indentations and holes behind the roundels I'd take them off too.
Porsche, and maybe others, have debadge as a no cost option on their order sheets. |

Just debadged my 335 too, and it looks much cleaner in my mind, but to each his own and be at ease with it. Like somebody else said here, anyone who knows BMW's will know the model anyway and anyone who doesn't wouldn't know the difference even with a badge.
They can always be out back on if you really get depressed. |

I debadged my AMG long ago, as I prefer the "speak softly, carry a big stick" motto. I didn't buy my E55 to impress people, but because I love to drive a "family" sedan that will run down most anything on the road. Sure, it isn't the fastest car on the planet, but I don't have young punks in Camaros and Mustangs trying to add me to their kill list on 6speed. I have no badges on the 335 because I feel that it speaks loud enough to people that it needs no "coaster tat" to tell people that it is something fun. Have I been mistaken for an M3 before by non-car folk? Yes, but I am quick to correct them, for I am proud of what it is. Debadging is really a personal taste, and I don't care for them. I will be purchasing a new sedan sometime to replace the E, and the S65, Maserati QP, and the M5 are my choices. Will I debadge whichever I buy? Hell yes! And if you come upon a really sharp looking 523i that looks like an M5 or an S280 with quad exhaust and AMG brakes somewhere around Naperville, it might be me rolling "under the radar" and you might get your A$$ handed to you if you try to race me.

Americans are brand whores. We must shove the fact that we are better-than-thou to everybody within eyeshot.
And it figures that the people who insist the "real" reason 325i/328i/330i are debadged is to hide the fact that they are lower models, are the same people who say they wouldn't debadge a 335i because they are proud that its the top model and want to show it off. Like I said, brand whores.
