What would u do?
So this morning I went to go get my puncture sorted on my rear drivers side tyre by someone I know, now being a runflat I had prepared myself to be told it was unreapairable. So when I get there he thought he should be able to repair it untill he took it off and said the sidewall was showing signs of stress so was best to replace it. So seen as I had already changed the 2 fronts to non-runflat Vreds I thought I might as well change the rears to non-runflats as it was something I wanted to do eventually anyway. So I was set on having Vreds, just as he's about to fit them he notices cracks in the wheel
One crack on the right side and one on the left (both on the lip) We decided we might as well throw the old tyre back on the wheel as he said its pointless putting a nice new tyre on untill sorting the wheel out. Now the options I have are to have the wheel welded (only thing putting me off is the fact my 18month old daughter is always in the car), buy a new wheel or is this an excuse to buy a new set of different wheels then sell the mv3's? What would you all do? Frobius mentioned to take the wheel to BMW to have a runtest how do I go about doing this, can I just turn up with it and they will do it or would I have to book? What would I get back on the mv3's repaired or not?

I love the look of the ones cmw have on offer on here at the moment the ones they have 3 sets of. How much would I be looking at for tyres all round on those? What would mv3's be worth if I had the wheel repaired?

im sticking my old tyres straight onto them. well you can go budget tyres and pay from around £130 a tyre. PM chris and he does tyres to and will do you a package hes really helpful. its worth asking so you can get a rough idea and go from there. not a clue what yours would be worth mate so dodgy trying to sell a repaired wheel though cause like you said you will worry about it going again.

I've just put some budget tyres on the rear of mine as a gap filler until I buy some 19's. My advice...don't buy budget.

Look what happened to Jay with his 330 on nankangs or whatever they were. His tree mod didn't really suit the front end.
Your tyres are THE ONLY THING connecting your heavy powerful car to the road and you want to put budgets on?! I wouldn't put budgets on my mrs 125 hp 118d never mind a car with more than double that!!

Easy
I would either:
Buy a single wheel on e-Bay and toss the broken wheel or Buy a set of 4 wheels on e-Bay, toss the cracked wheel and sell the remaining 3 wheels singly on e-Bay Given that wheels and tyres are the only thing that keep me going where I want to go, I wouldn't screw around with repairs and welds. Nor would I try and sell a repaired wheel, because it would devalue the other 3 and make the whole set hard to sell As the default M-sport wheel there are plenty of MV3s around, so doing the switch above shouldn't be an issue. |

Check camskill, just got 2 235/35/19 and 2 265/30/19 michelin pilot super sports for £760 delivered add a tenner for each corner then i have the best tyre's for less than 800. other places quoted me 300 for each rear tire and camskill is 210.

mid (ish) range price, decent performance. Don't discount not having staggered sizes either, 225/40 all round is a cheap option to consider and seemed fine on my 130i. 4 Vreds = £400.

Would rather try stick to 18's as I already have 2 perfectly fine front tyres, But on the other hand for the sake of an extra £300-£400 should I just upgrade to 19's then sell on the good 2 good tyres from the front mv3's and sell the good mv3's and hope to make a bit of money back on them. Is the ride difference any different between 18's and 19's.
