Tyre wear
Car runs spot on alignment all tyres wore evenly across tread
Tyre sizes Fronts 225/40/18 Rear 255/35/18 I got 15k out of the fronts and 7.5k out of the rears, is this normal mileage on a 320d or have i had my lead boots on Whats everyone else get on normal driving? |

You've definitely got your lead boots on, I'm not exactly 'driving Miss Daisy" either but I'd still expect at least double that. I can't give you exact mileage because I'm running winter tyres half the year, but so far they've done 30k between them, & I expect at least another 15k & possible much more before I replace any of them. On that basis, the very least any of the tyres will have covered is 20k!

What brand of tyre are you running?
I sold my fronts after 20k and they still had 6mm on them, so I'd say fronts can be good for 30k easily. Rears should do 10k-15k no problems too. |

That was general altimax sports
Sortov midrange tyre. Quite a good tyre actually for the money. To be honest i dont think i've ever got more than 10k out of a set of tyres on the driven wheels Fwd cars are the worst, usually 5k and the fronts are done |

I find cheaper tyres tend to come in two camps.
One camp is rock hard, lasts for 4 million miles and provides 0 grip. The other are VERY soft, last about 4 miles, but provide reasonable grip. Rear tyres lasting 7.5k IMO means you've either been driving everywhere with smoke pouring off them, or you had tyres in the second category above. My last car (an A4 Quattro) managed about 25k on a set of Eagle F1's, probably could have gone to 30k if i ran them right down to the wear bars. |

The general altimax are a mid range tyre.
Budgets in 255/50/18 your looking at £50, they come in at £110 so in the same bracket as kumho's toyos etc I do like a bit of tail out action to be fair. Although that does require a bit of provoking in a 320d |

I've put 13k on my rears and still plenty of tread left. Michelin PSS on a 335d. And i don't drive slow
Try changing the tire brand next, vreds are a good medium range tire. |

£110 for a general ultimax! You are getting bumped off ;-) These mid-range junk tyres are what garages use to push up their margins. They probably make 100% markup on them. Thankfully tyreleader has come along and everyone can afford to run a decent tyre.
http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres-225-40-18/ http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres-255-35-18/ Kumho's £62 and £75 a go. Decent tyre decent price. Hankooks are not much more or if you are happy spending over £400, go for a top end tyre like PSS/PS2 or Eagle F1. |

pretty standard play for all these sub par tyres. also, why are you paying 110£ for some shitters, when you can get EagleF1's for that money? the General's are only 72£ each on Tyreleader... |

I've had about 18k out of my fronts so far, and roughly 10k out of the rears. Expect probably 22-25k on the front, maybe 15k on the back. Think I'll end up changing the fronts before 3mm as they'll hit it just as winter comes. Otherwise I'd try and push them a little longer to 3mm.
