Navigation Help

The navigation on my 2008 335xi sedan is telling me to insert the navigation DVD. So, I insert the DVD and... Nothing. I don't know what to do. I thinking that there may be something wrong with the DVD drive or the DVD is not the correct version. Any suggestions?

What DVD "version" are you using? Does it sound like it's spinning? If it's still under warranty, I'd bring it in to a dealer to get checked out.

It's the north America professional

I didn't hear the disc spinning but I guess I was just assuming that the drive was really quiet.

Try holding the power button and both eject buttons until the system reboots.

2 questions

1. did it work before w/ that DVD?
2. are you still under warranty?

if it's warranty work, don't mess w/ it short of the reboot as suggested.

is the NAV DVD scratched? That could be an issue

Or sometimes, and i've experienced this with a 5 series, you sometimes, with a scratched NAV DVD have to wait until the idrive DVD unit warms up the DVD to start working.

Either way, have it looked at

I just went through this same problem with my nav as well. I also recently bought the 2011 disks as well. (my previous 07 version disk worked perfect) I tried the rebooting and still nothing. I ended up taking mine to the dealer and they deemed it a faulty disk.

Since I purchased the disks from them, they exchanged my disk under warranty.

Where are you located? Maybe someone local to you can pop their disk in real quick to see if it reads theirs.

Did you press and hold until the disc ejected and then pulled itself back in?

I had the same problem when I upgraded my disc.

yes, I held the buttons down until the disc when back in. The DVD drive recognizes that Theres a DVD in the drive but it seems to not be reading.

So I have come to the conclusion that it is not the DVD, and that it is the DVD drive. I heard the drive spin randomly and the navigation started to work. It seems that the drive is temperamental. I will make an appointment at the aler to hopefully get the drive replaced.

Since it's under warranty, just bring it to the dealership and ease your mind.
