How about a 2011 GTI lease for 279 a month. Gets you more utility than your 1er, still mod-able, quick out of the box, etc...

Well, more than halving your current payment would go a long way, but there does exist the issue of getting out of your current lease. Is this driving for work purposes? If so, have you thought about lobbying for a company vehicle?

yeah it is but no company vehicle. they have like 30 people who do the same thing as I do/will and everyone has their own car. They pay mileage reimbursement on a monthly basis though.
I don't care about halving my payment just yet, I would honestly rather keep my car and hope I can do enough sales with EC to pay most of the payments. I just need a temp car with some space and that won't put miles on my 1er. Again, taking the Jeep might be the best choice here but if for some reason I let go of the 1er, I would need to buy something that meets all the criteria and maybe helped me out by lowering my monthly by like $100-$150 yet still kept the mod/tuning part of me just happy enough to enjoy driving it (E91 or A4 avant would be the 2 obvious choices there). |

I would take the Jeep especially if it's temporary. And at least if it turns more permanent you can buy yourself some time. The mpg would suck but if you are getting some compensation on that end it is probably manageable (I'm assuming they aren't straight up paying everyone's gas and it's a pre-set amount per mile) than changing cars, again, at least for the time being
Additionally, we might have an old truck going up for sale shortly. Not sure yet though. If you become interested, let me know and I'll give you some details. It would not be expensive. |

IRS federal mileage reimbursement is $0.51 per mile this year. I miss being able to get mileage reimbursement. To cut costs, our company makes us rent cars now... not that that's bad.

If you are getting reimbursed for miles, you shouldnt be taking any deductions for auto expense. You dont record the reimbursement as revenue and you dont deduct any costs.
