Hey Guys, After a friend of mine bought a HID kit from the same place as the link below for his chicken chaser (Twingo 133) I thought I would give it a go after seeing how good his looks.

After checking out the place he got his from I found these from the same shop

So I was wondering if anyone has fitted these? Or if anyone has any other budget kit solutions? I don't really want to drop £120+ on a all singing all dancing HID kit, I just want to try it out.

Unless you go for an advanced kit you'll probably get warning lights coming up, particularly if you have an LCI. Try putting better H7 in, Phillips extremes are poplar, reasonably priced & are plug n play

I fitted an HID kit to my wifes Porsche Boxster as the headlights were poor (its pretty old!). I then had a chance of some different stock lights with clear indicators so fitted them instead. They came with Osram Nightbreakers (I think) and the difference between them and the cheap HID's was huge. The Osram bulbs a made the stock lights far better than the HID's both in range and brightness. The HID's were simple to fix but to be honest weren't that great in terms of actual performance.

If you want a budget set, expect poor performance and warning lights. If you want a set that will work without errors, it probably won't be a budget set.

Very true, although HIDs are never going to work as they should in BMW hologen reflectors and they could make you very unpopular with oncoming drivers!

I have a slim line HID kit (H7 fitment) that I purchased from HIDS4U about a year back. They were on my previous car (VW Passat) for about 8 months and now just sitting in the box. These are the error free canbus ones so dont throw up any warnings.

If you are after a set let me know as I no longer have a use for them

I had the same kit fitted to Ford Puma projector lights, although the bulbs were a different fitment, also sitting in the garage somewhere, & I can vouch for the fact they are one of the better kits around and didn't throw any canbus codes!

I vote that you will be seeing warning lights on the dashboard.

I put h8 7500k bulbs in my angel eyes. They aren't quite as good as a HID kit but they are much better than the standard orange ones.

As far as I'm aware the OP is looking to change upgrade his headlights not the Angel Eyes

have same kit in wifes Bclass as it has projectors works very well, lot better output then the stock bulbs

I wish they could develop a HID Kit which projected the light in one beam rather than spread it across the whole of the halogen light fitting....Which I think just makes it look cheap and far to bright for the road.

Does your mate's Twingo have already fitted projector head lamps?

I wonder why allot of manufacturers fit projector headlamps and then fit them with halogen bulbs? My wife's bog standard 2005 Mazda 3 has them and I've noticed allot of other makes to them too.

Couldn't tell as I went to go and have a look when it was dark. the lights are bright but not blinding so I'm guessing they have the fitted projector head lamps

From my own personal experience with this company, I would stay well clear. I purchased a set for my car following the information on their website re identifying and selecting the correct product.

They didn't fit or include any installation instructions and am currently engaged with the eBay resolution centre in the vain attempt of obtaining a refund. Weasels.

If you want HIDs, get them from somewhere reputable like HIDsDirect or HIDs4U.

i paid £30 for a brand new hid kit off ebay, and £7 for a set of error cancellers and it works perfectly. Any hid kit will work on an e9x provided you attach error cancellers to them

And you WILL fail the MOT, if the tester is properly up to his job

That's what we all thought until the revised guidelines were actually published. I'll dig out the exact wording, but all it says is that Xenon lights may be fitted, and if they are, there may be self levellers or washers fitted too. If the levellers and washers are fitted, they must work.

There's a noticeable absence of anything pertaining to aftermarket HID kits.
