What mileage would you expect shocks to last
My car (335d m-sport) has done 82k miles and doesn't feel 'planted' on the road at all.
It passed an mot a just before I bought it 2 months ago, so no signs of leakage I assume. I have 19" NRFs and no experience of RFs. The symptoms are: Feeling a bit bouncy at motorway speeds and not 'precise' or confidence inspiring when changing lanes / direction quickly. Skips off-track if you hit a rough patch on a corner or roundabout. At low speed around town a smallish pothole or speed bump can send a gut-wrenching crash through the car. I don't want to spend on new shocks if this is typical of these cars handling, or the problem lies elsewhere. How does this compare to your experience, at low mileage and higher mileage? |

My 330i m sport (06) has only done 37K and feels very precise and direct and certainly not bouncy. I'd suggest that your shocks are tired but not so bad they are leaking

First thing would be to get a proper 4 wheel alignment done.
Doing one on my 320d was worth about 15mph more on a straight but bumpy road b-road before the ring-pucker factor kicked in (only one of the parameters was in spec). Mine is on original dampers at 115k, but I'm going to be changing them this summer. No idea what to, mind... |

Mine has only 30K on the clock and feels not as planted as i'd like when at speed. I'm considering changing to Bilstein B6 dampers but am still undecided.
