Could this trick the ECU into thinking there is a cat?
I'd highly be surprised. Professionals(i.e. making cheater plugs, etc) have been trying to get this fixed and all have given up.

So there is no way to run a dp on my 2011 n55 unless I have a tune to eliminate the cel?

Correct, unless you want to live with the CEL always being on. Which isn't that bad

I tried the (eBay) 02 sensor spacer on my N55 and about 140miles later CEL was on. My buddy and I our going to be trying a few different setups the next few weeks. He has a custom o2 Spacer that he has made and on my buddies N54 has over 1500 miles and no CEL and passes our NY State Emissions testing. So now we will be trying it on my N55. I did the install of my down pipe using once again the eBay 02 sensor spacer. Wish I had called him before I installed mine and to have tried his 02 sensor spacer from the start. I was going to try them O2 Simulator Min Cat CEL Fix, but I see that Jsoboti has had no luck so far. Jsoboti Please keep us updated with the Mini 02 spacers. I will also keep everyone posted with my buddies O2 Sensor Spacers.

I tried to get the spacer out today while leaving the DP on the car, no dice, not enough room. Going to remove the DP tomorrow and try again. Unfortunately for me I got one the the VRSF pipes with the wide flange so for me to take the DP on and off I have to remove the engine mount for extra room to muscle the damn clamp on.

I'll keep you guys updated

Update: I have the spacer off the top 02 sensor and I now have the 90 degree spacer on the bottom one, cleared the codes with a code scanner and now I'll drive home and see if I get a code. I plan on putting the JB4 back on tomorrow so I'm not sure if I'll put enough miles on it to notice the code or not but we'll see.

Also the vrsf DP was a major PITA toninstall the first time but this time it was a breeze

No codes being thrown by the Jb4. When I do the code check through the steering wheel and speedo/tach I get 0 codes. Not sure if the JB4 is suppressing them or what not. But it appears to be working

works on and off. dammit.

CEL isn't a problem, per se, it's just annoying and i'd like it to only illuminate for actual issues.

I would REALLY like for someone to find a fix. Cobb doesn't support my 2013 DME and I don't like the way JB4 has to hijack your wiring harness and tap into the DME; fighting it continuously. Please update!!!

The JB4 is awesome dude. It doesn't feel like your car is fighting it. It takes a few times driving it with the JB4 on it for the car to settle into it and after that it feels like a normal car... With loads more power. Give it a shot if you haven't already. And go ISO

^ Interesting.. sounds like it may be enough of a "solution" to pass emissions where OBDII readiness is required as long as you clear all codes then conservatively for a week or so prior to the test. After that just set your tune to hide the code again until next year.

Just wondering how long is your 90 degree spacer is? Maybe if you add another small extension to the existing spacer might help on WOT. A cheap option for spacers is spark plug defouler but will need drilling it out. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=730544_0_0_

commonly done to beat CEL

N55 engine management is very emissions sensitive, if it detects a problem with a catalyzer it will constantly shift mappings and try to correct the issue and performance would suffer.

I think the problem is the pressure that builds when WOT. Regardless of how long or the angle of the extension it would seem that the high pressure is forcing enough of the exhaust into the spacer and the sensor is picking up on it. Oh well
