Have to disagree... the purpose of the E90 335i is not to be a drag race monster. BMW had several other priorities when making this car. Take these two to the track and see what happens? You can't compare two cars at a price point when they were both made for two ENTIRELY different reasons.

As a track car, the current Boss 302 and the $15K more expensive M3 run neck and neck in all aspects of performance. |

Ive been schooled by mustangs....cobra mustangs... i mean single turbo cobra mustangs...with 800HP. didnt even stand a chance im happy other car forums know that 335's are quite the little rocket. how often do you see cars that with a simple tune can change the car so dramatically, id say only a handful. most tunes for other cars add 20-40 max. |

Personally I respect Ford very much and the current gen Mustang 5.0 GT. That was the only alternative when I was looking for my E92 last year. The two big reasons I didn't go the Ford route was - the 5.0 GT was less than a model year old, which means gremlins and bugs. Also, what I see as poor interiors - where I spend 90% the time I'm around my car. I would be interested in any car that benchmarks the E92 M3 and pulls it off well at a good price point. The next-gen Mustang speculations/renderings are already out and IMO it looks too swoopy and artsy.. I'm waiting and watching..

Funny story when a Mustang tried racing me on the freeway...I think it was the older v6 like '05 so no biggy. He honked the horn 3 times and we took off...kind of..well he took off. I was in manual shifting mode and when I hit redline, I up-shifted but the computer also did it at the same time so I went from 2nd gear and it jumped to 4th so my car went no where. Well it was quite embarrassing. Since then I learned to shift no more than like 6500 RPM and from a full stop it's actually quicker to leave it in DS and let the computer do all the shifting. Downside is you never know if its in M1 or M2 while at a stop in DS mode.

Frankly I'm impressed with the respect the Mustang owners show, e.g. Quote:
