CD to MP3 Jukebox type devices...
Gents,
Lots of audiphiles etc here. I am looking into something like a Sony Gigajuke or Brennan JB7 to manage my CD collection in one nice easy box. I'm not ignorant of technology, so I am aware of options like.... Linking my XBOX 360 to my PC, using Spotify etc or various fairly simple iPod connection options and I have discounted all of them. What I want is specifically around ripping my CD's (at a good standard of compression) directly to a device which will manage naming them, listing them etc. It needs to be quick and fairly easy, hence why using a PC isn't really an option until I was made aware of some software which does this for me without continuous pop ups and faffing... Even if the PC was an option, I doubt I could be arsed with setting it up for audio as I have already not bothered to do so for films.... The Brennan is faster than the Gigajuke and also has some nifty playlist options etc, but its also uncompetitively priced and looks rather stupid, with a pretty crap amp and limited options for connecting to a proper device (I have an Onkyo 806 which I would like to connect the device to.) The Gigajuke is slow, with Sony's typically crap amp as well, and I'd be paying for features I don't need such as 5.1 etc (as the Gigajuke is often used as a surround sound amp) There do seem to be Denon and other options, but none which I can really spot as a market leader. Has anyone else gone for something like this? Cheers Matt |

I'm sure that there must be better options. Netbook perhaps? |

What's the driver here Matt - the speed of the ripping or post-rip management?
Have you considered using iTunes as the management medium and hooking an AirPort Express to the hifi? You can then use the 'remote' app on an iPhone or iPod touch to control what's playing. Ed
