Well it was a hoot in short spells! Getting the top down whilst lapping the 'ring at sub 9min pace is something I would love to do again

Here's a brief selection of pics from some outings:

That's a 6% power increase! Not many sub £400 modifications are going to give you that..........

As much as the E46 vert does look good, (one of the best looking convertibles going IMHO) it's 175kilos heavier. It's closer to standard 335d performance than the E46 Coupe. Still quick though.

I didn't really care for the looks with the fabric top up. I used to have a hardtop on for normal road use (not that it got much). I felt like it only really looked good with the top down or the hard top on.

I've had an E46 M3 coupe in the past as well although I didn't track it (I only had it short term). There's not as much in it performance wise as you'd think, the coupe is obviously a lot stiffer so handles differently.

I actually felt like on hard corner exit, the 'vert shell flex allowed it to be a little more compliant in getting the power down. Extra weight over the rear wheels helps as well of course.

Your right, to 60mph is 0.5 sec. Too 100mph its over 1.5 seconds which is rather large.

your money...up to you how to spend it...

but for £400 ....i 'd expect at the very least 50/ 60bhp....

on a 335D or i, you're getting at least 50bhp with a remap alone...

for £200....you get at least 30bhp with a boost controller on the 335i....

i know different cars....but at the end of the day....its all about money...

if you're willing to pay £400 for 20 horses...up to you...i'm not!...

I do know

It's horses for courses I guess, 20bhp is a big gain for an E46 M3, not so much for the 335d, which was your original point I guess, so I should probably shut up. BUT the increase on the M3 was definitely worth having, so I objected to the 'no point in tuning it' comment because it definately made it a better car.
