NGK 5992 discontinued and replaced by 95770...but last two sets only lasted a few k?
I was successfully using NGK 5992 gapped to .023 for a long time. NGK discontinued the plug and replaced it with NGK 95770, which is supposed to be the same/similar.
I am beginning to think this is not the case. The first set of the new 95770 I tried only lasted 9k before causing severe misfires (undriveable) and when I took them out, they were covered in carbon. Normally the 5992s were a bit white from running lean. I replaced them with another set of 95770 and now I just got the same part throttle misfire after only 4k that the old ones had. If this gets worse again, I will pull the plugs but I suspect they are finished. Does anyone know if these are truly the same plug as the 5992 or are they different? I may have other issues going on (coils, etc) so it is hard for me to be sure. Thanks, -Jon |

Ngk 5992 are same heat range as oem n55 plugs. They are used on the n54. PTF posted about this a while back. On the N55 people should be ising N20 plugs as they are 1 step colder than N55. They are 2 steps colder than N54 plugs.

The N20 plugs (NGK) are hot and most folks now running a tune on N20 cars are using S55 (bosch) plugs with -.018-.022 gap

I had to replace a cracked valve cover cuz of a oil leak into 2 spark plug tubes causing a misfire then I replaced 2 of the plugs(ngk95770) and still got misfires then I replaced all of the 6 coils(bosch) and still got misfires so now im replacing all 6 plugs(ngk95770) again ......... ive been readin that the gap-able plugs could be causing it even if their gapped at .022 so im bout to gap the new ones now and I wana know if im doin something wrong or what anyone have any insights??
