Car Audio Decks (Alpine, Pioneer etc.)

Is there anyway to get custom car audio decks on the 3 series? The stock ones are so limited in terms of information displayed on LCD and as far as wiring goes, nothing can be done. I originally bought the car without any ipod integration but want to do so. Has anyone here installed decks and speakers/subwoofers in their 3 series? If so, could you please post some pictures? Thanks

Yeah. It can be done with no problems by a good shop. I looked in to it a while ago and then I became more focused on performance.

i was wondering the same thing, dont get me wrong...i really enjoy the logic 7 system, but i cant STAND the LCD screen. its fu@king useless as far as information is concerned, if there is any title over 1o letters it cuts it off, doesnt even scroll...its kinda pathetic actually.

all that technology, total lack of foresight.

hey, youre in Canada, theres a lot a shops that should be able to do this, however you need to find out if they will be able to integrate the steering wheel control as well. I have a rockford system in my E90 with stock radio but I use a sound processor called 3sixty.2 from rockford fosgate this way I get aftermarket performance with the stock radio. I wouldnt recommend changing the factory unit as a lot of stuff is integrated in this like the clock , steering control and if you have bluetooth as well.

Even if you change the head unit, you still can use the bluetooth and the steering wheel with and adapter. The only thing that will not be usable will be the SOS. I first try OEM with and audio control and rockford fosgate and the sound was better with the aftermarket head unit. I went with the Alpine IVA-D106 this is a touch screen and I don't regret changing the OEM head unit.
