I had no idea the DCT was available in Canada on an xi? I thought the DCT was only available on the M3 and 335is models.

i think he means DTC as in Dynamic Traction Control as opposed to Dual Clutch Transmission

Yep sorry DTC, I may have said it different in my original post. Now that the weather has gotten better I don't mind losing the traction control but I would like to get the problem fixed. I have a service light coming on (9000 km left before) so I might just get it dealt with when I take it in for the service.

I think I am the only one with this problem though.

anyone's gotten a oil pan heating pad installed in edmonton?
what are my choices?

bmw says we won't need to worry about the cold weather but the car is sounding sad when i try to start it after eight hours.

anyway, i'm sure we'll get more -30 week long weather again.

With this weather and synthetic oil, your battery is more of a concern.

Get a trickle charger and make sure the car actually starts after 8 hours at work...the rest the oil will take care of.

But I too would love a battery blanket. I think for 40 bucks online you can install it fairly easy.

The AADS's winter school is February 18-19. Format will be Friday classroom (in Edmonton), Saturday on the lake (short distance west of Edmonton).

http://www.nabmwclub.ca/events/item/...driving-school

Contrary to the website, the registration deadline is Janurary 31.

Weather conditions look good for this year...so book now!

The AADS is a joint venture between the Southern (Calgary) and Northern (Edmonton) Alberta BMW Clubs.

I ended up stopping at ECC Motors on Saturday. The service side was closed but the owner Paul was nice enough to go out of his way, hook my car up to the tool and program the computer. Although I've never had my car serviced there I'd have to recommend them on attitude alone. They specialize in sales and service of BMW and have a huge/professional facility. They are also an active autoweke dealer, which I thought is cool.

It really depends on the weather, but typically you can get lucky and pull out your car at the end of March, but realistically May 1st is the ideal date.

Just my opinion!!!
