Arcan jack
Hi, for those who are using the Arcan jack to jack up your car, I checked my car on the side and the front, the clearance is around 12-14cm only, car is stock with M sport kit and suspension.
I am going to buy the Arcan jack online, but not sure if the whole jack can be put underneath the car in order to reach the centre jacking point. The front end of the jack (where the saddle is) can definitely go under the car but I am more concerning with the rear end of the jack (where the pump is), whether or not it can also go under the car. Please help. *would be awesome if you could let me know the exact highest point of the Arcan jack where lowered If the whole jack couldn't be put under the car, I would just buy a normal jack and buy another car ramp to give enough clearance for the jack. Many thanks |

I have that same jack that I use on my 135i, stock M sport suspension. The jack can fit underneath the side jack points fine, although it can be tight with one of those jack pad adapters. No chance fitting the jack underneath the car for the front jacking point. I have made up some wooden ramps to raise up the front enough (only about 60mm high). The Arcan jack is 155mm at the highest point You would have to get one of those super long low profile jacks. I have never seen them for sale in Aus: http://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-l...ump-68050.html

I can confirm you will not be able to reach the front jacking point on an e92 with msport suspension with the arcan.
I borrowed my friends blue point long super low profile jack (discontinued) and even with that it wouldn't reach the jacking point before making contact with the aero lip. Your best bet is ramps, also keep in mind the maximum height of the arcan is only just high enough for me to fit under the car with a creeper. |

Thanks a lot!!!
I can give up buying the Arcan then. Just buy those ramp and a normal jack. There are quite a few low profile ramp on eBay by the way, averaged $100-150 This is one of them: Genuine CUSCO low profile car tyre slopes ramps for jack stand lowered 2 Piece (Sorry, can't copy link, I am using the eBay app.) |

I am planning to jack the front up and put 2 jack stands to keep the car in the air.
Is it ok just to lift the front up by 2 jack stands? Just feel like if I have to drive the car on something in order to use the arcan, why wouldn't I just buy a normal jack with a proper ramp. |

While pieces of timber or similar works fine, caravan levelling ramps like these are ideal to get the front end up high enough to comfortably reach the centre jacking point > https://www.caravanpro.com.au/produc...2-piece---pair. Strong and safe ...

Better off going to Bunnings and buying some blocks of wood for a fraction of the price. They can even cut it to size for you. Those ramps you linked wont be tall enough for you to work underneath the car so it'll only be good for getting the trolley jack underneath the car. Too expensive for what they'll do for you in my opinion.
I made my own ramps, pic attached. Theyre around 72mm high and took me around half an hour to make. I only bothered to use 2 screws to hold them together. The angled edges arent even necessary, the car would drive up fine without them. You probably only even need 1 layer of wood to clear the jack, once my car is on those homemade ramps theres a TON of space to fit the jack underneath.

I used the costco arcan jack today to do my first oil change. I drove the car onto some old wood and then jacked the car up using the front jack point. I put kincrome jack stands as back up stands on the sides of the vehicle and also used some bricks as a last resort. This was my first mechanical DIY and I managed to do it pretty well with the arcan jack.
