Extra fuel injection

Well, I got most of the parts in this weekend to fab a dual fuel pump setup and port injection to my Mazdaspeed 3 (direct injection). I could do the same thing for the 335i using the same premise except for fabbing a cold pipe with the injectors mounted right before the throttle body and half the amount of injectors (two). Wonder if any 335i peeps would be interested in this b/c its already being used on other DI platforms with success. In my opinion this is alot better than running a meth kit for a number of reasons (1. less chance of failure, 2. injectors atomize better than meth nozzles, 3. no need to buy meth, 4. run more e85, 5. more control (controller allows you to batch fire injectors and gives you a rpm/maf/map table to control injector duty cycles). Btw, I'm running FIC 1100cc/min high impedence injectors with mine.

Is that the FTC-1 I see? Looks like a fun project. I would like a setup to add more fuel but I have another method I will be going about. Have fun with the project. I miss my Speed6

HPF built a 335 manifold with injector bungs. I think they are planning on putting a system like this on their single turbo test car. I think there is a pic of that manifold still posted online somewhere.

Keep us posted on your build! This looks interesting!! What DIY are you basing this off of? Could you post up a link or tell us what to search for? Thanks!!!!

Just search other DI platforms. My 335i is stock but im going to use this to supply the fuel for my hta3582 ms3. As long as the 335i has a 5v maf/map sensor the a1c1 can fire the injectors based off maf/map voltage.

Why not use the SMT-6 and base the injetors off map, vac/boost and throttle?

Im not familiar with the smt-6 but i'd rather base fuel injected off airflow from a maf sensor. Should allow your extra fueling to be pretty damn precise.

Doesn't this kind of throw some of the benefits of DI out the window?

Some of them.. But it also gives the benifit of having clean valves because of the gas/cleaners across the back of the valves

No. It's supplementary.

Lexus runs DI plus port injection on their IS-F for several reasons.

The SMT6 can be setup using MAF, MAP, Throttle, Load, and so on. They both offer 3d tuning. I would use it to supply any power over stock boost. Use something along the lines of JB4 or Vishnu's tuner to make sure the car only ever sees stock boost, anything over stock let the SMT6 and extra injectors handle. The biggest flaw in your setup is you cant guide the fuel properly. No matter how hard you try not every cylinder will be getting exact amount of fuel trust me on this. If you wanted to step up the game, get a manifold from a 330 and use its stock fuel bosses and add your fuel system to that.

My choice would be the accessport in conjuction with the injector controller and although you wont get even distribution per cylinder if you put injectors pre-tb you get better atomization and distribution that matchs the airflow. Besides you can always do what im doing to my ms3 and just add an injector for each ibtake runner. Its up to you and how much you wanna spend but both ways work.

Eh, I not really care about that. It isn't ditching DI, but it is reducing the quantity of fuel injected into the cylinder and thus reduces the detonation suppression benefits of DI at least slightly (this is more so true for E85 users like myself).

Glad to see other innovation going on, but I think its better to just flash and upgrade the lpfp and hpfp at this point. If we were turning over 9k revs or making enough power that the DI was wetting the cylinder walls I could see this being worth while, but not yet imho.

Go for it!

How many injectors can the split second control? I would attempt the 330 intake conversion or a custom intake manifold if I had a control for up to six injectors.

I believe what you are thinking of is the direct port meth that HPF was toying with. I remember that pic...

ProEFI is working on a standalone that will work in conjunction with their new manifold that is going to combine port & direction injections.... I'd wait for them to finalize that project before trying to tune with any of the current options

No, there was another guy on the forum that did a meth port injection. The HPF manifold was a fuel rail port injection and if I'm not mistaken they are putting on the single turbo car they are working on, or have been working on for more than two years.

New HPF N54 Intake Manifold for both 135i and 335i - PICS

I can't find the one where they guy put meth nozzles on each port and used JB Weld. It looked cool, but after that you didn't hear much about it again because apparently it didn't work so well.
