KW V2 Owners

This question if for the KW V2 owners on the forum. I was told by KW you can adjust the height of the coil overs without removing the tire.

How easy is this and since you installed them have you noticed any additional settling making them lower than your original settings?

Thanks.

bump..
I'm curious as well as to the ease in adjusting the front and rear ride height on the KWv2...
If its a PITA then I might just go with springs and shocks or v1

Just wondering, V1 and V2 have different ways of setting ride height?

According to KW you can only adjust V2 and V3. V1 is set when installed and cannot be adjusted.

They also stated you can self adjust the dampening without removing the wheels as well.

Well maybe, I mean i guess u could adjust the front but i hightly doubt u could do the rear!!
I guess u could turn the wheel all the way to the left/right so that the wheel is facing outward to get your hand in there and twist em up or down but itd be much easier just taking the wheel off it takes a whole 2min!!
Know the rear is another story I would rather drop the lower control arm with the 1 bolt and twist a turn or a half turn as needed.. ITs alot easier to turn with no pressure on the adjusters!!

You can adjust the front by turning the wheel, and you can also adjust the rear by lifting the car and adjusting from below, but removing the wheels will be much easier.

V1 allows you to adjust the height only. No shock adjustments

The wheel restrict a lot of space to make adjustments. Removing it will save you from a lot of four letter swear words.

+1 to ADHD

Can be done by turning the wheel but easier to take it off. Dampening adjustments you don't take off your wheels.

Is it suppose to click when you adjust the dampening on the shocks? Ive read posts where you turn it x amount of clicks but my shit dont click. V2's over here.

The KW shocks are adjusted in terms of 360 degrees, not clicks. So to make sure they are all adjusted to the same amount, compress and turn the piston all the way to one direction (either full hard or full soft). Then compress and turn it the same amount of degrees.

I guess its possible, but I don't know why you would want to adjust the height without removing the wheels since it makes it 1,000 times easier to get to the spring perch with the spanner wrench. With the wheels off its pretty easy to adjust the height though.

other than eyeballing the height setting for each coilover.. Are there markings or something on the coilover itself so you have a point of reference as to the height...
Without a reference isnt there a good chance that the height of each coilover could be set unlevel?

You just measure up from a set point on each coilover so they are the same on each side

The FRONT threads are on the damper assembly, which is fixed to the lower control arm when installed. An Allen screw (that fixes the sleeve to the threaded part) is loosened and the sleeve can be turned using the special tool included with the V2. Since the threads are fixed, turning of the sleeved portion can be done easily without twisting the threads.

In the REAR, there is no allen screw. The threaded side (male portion) and the sleeve (female portion) are not fixed to the chassis. With the car's weight on the rear assembly, twisting the sleeve may also twist the threaded portion. This is why the bolt holding the control arm should be removed (like ADHD said), and at least the lower bolt to the rear damper. The adjustable assembly can then be removed easily and adjusted.

I have adjusted the rears before after they were installed without any problems. If you are adjusting them its most likely going to be a very small adjustment from where its originally set so it isn't too hard. To remove that lower control arm bolt would be a PITA though. To get that bolt aligned back again took me two jacks under the control arm and a scissor jack on the hub since that bolt doesn't go in totally straight.
