M3 Steering Wheel Question
I know this has been discussed several times, but I couldn't really get a definite answer. If I have a non-sport 335 coupe, do I need the airbag and bracket? Or can I just use my airbag and just simply buy the steering wheel itself?

You'll need the sport airbag and bracket too. Airbags are expensive but I see them at decent prices occasionally on the board. Just be careful buying used as this is a device designed to save your life...

What's weird is that the sport and non sport airbags on E92's look identical. The non sport E90 wheels look totally different.

Pretty sure ALL coupes get the same steering wheel(the sport wheel). If your steering wheel has thumb rests then you have the sport steering wheel.

I thought you had to have sport package to get the sport wheel, but if you look at the configurator, the current model has the sport wheel no matter what.
You will know by looking at your wheel, they look nothing alike. If your airbag is mostly round, you should be good, if your airbag looks like a triangle, then you need the airbag and bracket. The other tip off is the sport wheel has the silver chrome accents on the sides of the trim below the airbag (except for the 2007 where it was black) the non sport wheel doesn't have that and is all black.

If you have a non-sport steering wheel and you want to upgrade to any other steering wheel (ZSP, M3, M-Tech and Performance) you are going to need the sport airbag (round one), air bracket, multi-function trim and multi-function buttons. I am in the process of upgrading myself, I only need to find the sport multi-function buttons and I'm set to go.

And I THINK (not sure) most coupes get sport steering wheels too.

I believe you are good to go. All you need to do now is get a hold of the M3 Steering wheel and you can transfer everything over. If you want different trim then you'll need to buy that too. But I think you're better off with the trim you have now. Good luck with purchasing the steering wheel .

I think I'm learning something new here... You do have the sport wheel but not the sport package (no sport seats) and yes, Kg810 is correct - you have the right stuff there to switch to the M3 wheel without buying anything additional at all. I'm guessing (and this is what I'm learning that's new) that you have this wheel because you have the paddle shifters. I suspect that if you order the paddle shifters you also get this sport wheel as they don't put the paddle shifters on the non-sport wheel. If you want to retain your paddle shifters though, make sure you get the correct M3 wheel to accommodate them.

I dont have paddle shifters. All of the 335i coupes have this wheel.

You are 100% good to go, you just need the wheel, everything else will fit (unless you want the trim that has the //M logo on it, which will fit if you buy it also)
One of the best mods you can do - M3 wheel makes the stock wheel feel like a broomstick in your hands!

I just changed to the M-Sport perforated wheel and it's awesome. Much bigger and softer than the sport wheel. Got mine on ebay for $339 shipped. cost me $49 to have it installed. Makes my 330i FEEL quicker. LOL. Best non-performance mod by far!

I got my M3 wheel in and put it on in 10 minutes. The DIY said 1.5 hours.
Just for clarification, the E92's with no sport package have the same wheel as the E90 and E92 sport package. All you need is the wheel itself. Airbag and all fits just right.

I had mine changed too, the look and feel of the M3 steering is great, i think they use the same soft leather like on the M3 seats.
