I was reading through the threads in the engine modifications and came to something that doesn't sound so good . Somebody stated that March 08 builds and later have a new DME which will show BMW if a piggyback ever was/is installed..not good! I'm leasing my car and actually ordering this week ..but I wanted to throw some kind of piggy in, maybe the PROcede v3 or juicebox or something. I'm ordering the car no matter what, but I'll be depressed if I can't tune the ECU ughhhh. Does anyone around here know if this is true, or if there might possibly be a way figured out to get around it..

you can get the dinan or JB1 so far is proven to be okay. im sure they will develope something to bypass it eventually.

its true. also new progman detects if you have a chip. my suggestion is to not do anything right now

I don't know why everyone just doesnt get the DINAN software...it's warranteed and backed by BMW

i dont know where people get that info from but its not. its warrantied by Dinan, and Dinan Service Centers.

To obtain service under this warranty, the vehicle must be brought, upon discovery of a malfunction or defect in materials and/or workmanship, to the workshop of any Authorized Dinan Dealer, during normal business hours. Proof of purchase in the form of a lawful invoice is required. The Authorized Dinan Dealer will, without charge for parts or labor, repair or replace the defective Dinan component(s), as well as any original vehicle manufacturer’s component(s) that may have been directly affected by a Dinan component, using new or authorized remanufactured parts. The decision to repair or replace said parts is at the sole discretion of Dinan and/or the original vehicle manufacturer. Parts for which replacements are supplied under this limited warranty become the property of Dinan and/or the original vehicle manufacturer. In all cases, a reasonable period of time must be allowed for warranty repairs to be completed after the vehicle is delivered to the Authorized Dinan Dealer.

+1... I would assume that cars built before March will not get the new DME installed when you go in for service at the dealer... Just not sure if they update the software, if this will make a difference.

On top of that, Dinan does send your VIN# to BMW directly thus your BMW warranty on the specific components will be VOID immediately once you upgrade. There are no if/when the dealership finds out discussions with Dinan upgraded, Dinan makes that info available to BMW.

SSTT has also been proven to work on the DMEv.81
