warranty works

Am looking at extended warranty for 57 (2008) 2 litre diesel touring 3 series.

I am looking at warranty works

https://warrantyworks.co.uk/index.js...FUJP4QodRQJiOA

my car comes out at £500 for the length of time I have the car. Sounds too good to be true. Can anyone recommend this company or give me more insight? Going to ring BMW tomorrow and see how easy it is to sort repairs through companies like this. Max per claim is £1000 at BMW garage.

Was thinking of trading mine in but doesn't seem any point now.

Thoughts

"we think it was a pre-existing condition" (they didnt inspect the car at the start so a pointless statement which is impossible to prove either way.

"it isnt a complete and total failure". Every electrical fault I have ever seen..

Dont waste your money.

Just get a BMW warranty so that when you come to use it, it's actually honoured.

This is as much use as tartain paint or a long wait.

I've heard some things recently about the BMW warranty (just another insured warranty - underwritten by Mondial) starting to not be as good as it used to be. Lots of people getting told, "it's wear and tear" etc. Plus, it's fooking expensive. At the best part of a grand a year for the decent one, you'd almost be worth just putting it in the bank.. at least until your gearbox goes!

I'm seriously considering going private sale and getting a warranty wise one rather than the bmw one. Although I'd still like an AUC one in an ideal world.

A BMW warranty is £1000? Are you sure or are you trying for warranty on a high mileage or even a M car?

My 335i was either £360 or £380 for the year with BMW.

I pay £43 per month for mine, that's with a £0 excess.

Warranty Wise were more expensive and their "wear and tear" payments are for "premature wear and tear". Hence if the "wear and tear" is to be expected then they won't pay. That seems to devalue the "wear and tear" clause significantly in my view.

When you pay monthly it costs a bit more but most of the other warranty companies want the cash up front.

The BMW warranty is the cheapest I've seen and there is less loop holes and grey areas to worry about.

Yes you have to have it serviced at BMW.

However, the time you add up savings on warranty costs, when you come to sell a full BMW service history will make your car more valuable and desirable making it worthwhile for the BMW warranty.

The warranty can also be transferred at time of sale.

Also with the maximum claim at £1000 with most of these other warranty companies you really are not well covered.

If something big goes wrong £1000 is soon spent. I'm sure all the turbocharged cars would be well over £1000 to repair at a dealer if the turbo needed replacing.

Thanks for responses. It does appear a bit confusing, will they, wont they pay? Have looked at reviews and it looks as though you need to ensure the correct processes are done but thats the same for any policy.

Warranty wise is £1700 for 3 years.
BMW is £837 for 1 year fully comp no excess and without emergency cover.
warranty works is £500 forever.

What they dont include:

Bodywork and Trim, Seat belts, Glass, Sunroof Panels, Fuel Tank, Wheels & Tyres, Air Bags & Disposal of air bags,
Minor Fluid Leaks, Odours, External Oil Leaks, Worn or perished seals,Consumable Items such as light bulbs, wiper
blades, brake linings, brake discs & cylinders, cables, glow plugs, and keys,Blocked porous or seized components such as
EGR Valves, Hoses & brake CalipersClearing & Cleaning of Fuel Lines, or components contaminated by either the wrong
fuel, or water ingress, including water damage.Exaust Systems including manifolds, mufflers, brackets & mountings,
Including de-pollution or diesel particulate filters & SystemsCylinder Block Liners for vehicles over 3000cc

I understand the problem with "existing condition" but the car is fully main dealer serviced so that shouldnt be an issue. Im going to call these people and see what the crack is. It does worry me they cant spell exhaust on their fey facts page correctly though!

Most little things can be fixed under £100 anyway yourself and if you get a big problem £100 wont seem like anything to pay.

Most likely limp mode will get you to a BMW garage so breakdown cover isnt much use, in 5 years i used it once and i could have limped to a garage anyway. The hire car was a Vectra... better than a good walk i suppose.

You can hire a car for £30 a day anyway worse case.

Your quote looks high so i guess you have pretty big milage on the car? best to take out the first year before 60k miles
+ BMW do it all - no cash needs to change hands - you read very few bad stories on here from people with BMW Warranties - but loads with other non-BMW backed ones.

Even opting out of the 'all singing - all dancing' recovery, they will still com out and give you a basic service including a tow to a dealer (but no home start).

Bloody hell, that's a good deal!

I've not had a quote yet as I've not bought the car, but I'm looking at about an 08 330d Touring with about 40-50k on the clock.

Was your quote for comprehensive? How old/miles?

Sorry just to add another possibility, I have seen that the breakdown companies do a garage repair service for not a lot. Looks like that might be the best option. Look v similar to a warranty repair service for about £50 a year. Thoughts?
