Please help me with my Progman questions....
I will keep this short....
My car: 335i 6-speed coupe w/NAV Production date: Oct 26th, 2006 I have had several discussions with dealer. My service advisor is very helpful, but know's nothing about Progman. Today, I picked my car up from service and was told (supposedly by the guy who does these updates) that my car has 27.02.01 and NAV version is NAV 30. Now, my questions/concerns... What should my car do now that it didn't previously? I can't find anything new/different. My concerns are also about typical idrive/NAV/Voice problems. NAV is slow to respond. 80% of the Voice commands don't work and etc... Example: I read that I should now be able to Search by Name on Location/New Destination....such as McDonald's instead of just American Rest. I have read page after page on here and BMW Club articles about the changes...so either I am an idiot or my dealer is not telling me the truth.... Also, please recommend a dealer that you know will help me with these issues. I am willing to drive as far as 600 miles in any direction from Nashville to sold my problems... Thanks in advance for your

One obvious change from your '06 production software should be the screen color. The old interface used to be green, the new one is grey/silver (you easily see this on the main menu screen).
Usually the dealers will upgrade to the latest s/w version they have. POI should be available but you'll still have to go to the Restaurant category, then you'll see an area to enter a name... you can enter a partial name, select "Store Name" (which does so temporarily for that search), then search. You could go to restaurants for example and enter "MCD" and it will pull up McDonald's and any other restaurant with "MCD" in it. Here's a recent post about that version: Progman 27.02.02 Rocks Other recent updates, not that particular version per se, but with significant updates you should be seeing can be found in this thread for v26: I just got version 26 today...

PROGMAN v25.00.00, released in early March 2007, was such a major revision, that BMW provided a somewhat cheesey "Hang Tag" on the mirror showing the color scheme difference and asking you to contact your dealer for more info (as if they had any ).
Since then no major changes, rather, just fixes to things that get broken along the way. US BMW dealers have been criticized recently by BMWAG HQ for not staying current on PROGMAN changes and updating using outdated versions. There will be many online updates between DVD releases. I provide an updated list now and then. I guess its about time to update. Find posts on PROGMAN 25.00.00 or any 25.xx.xx discussions for the major enhancements noted by members. The SIBs announcing PROGMAN releases focus on "fixes" and not feature enhancements. BTW there is no separate NAV update for iDrive cars (possible exception is the older E65/66 7 series). The NAV 30 reference the OP got is not valid unless for a non - iDrive equipped vehicle. Last edited by cobradac; 11-06-2007 at 03:35 PM.. Reason: added NAV 30 comment |
