Can you report back on your dipstick appearance after the change? I had a stealer do one recently and the oil was thin but still quite a bit of soot on the dipstick, etc.

~60 miles and its fairly clear but soot is already accumulating.The dipstick is soot laden so it makes it hard to discern a difference unless I blot on a paper towel.

Thanks very much, mine was still on the dealer lot when i looked at it. Does it sound to you like we are describing more or less the same thing or instead that I am describing dirty oil.

Not for these simple items. You should be able to DIY an oil & filter change plus DEF fillup for less than $100. The procedures no longer call for a DEF flush, they just fill it up.

So I took the D in for service this morning. Mileage is slightly above 26,000 miles. Of course they are changing the oil and filter. I mentioned the air and fuel filter. My service advisor then tells me that it's condition based. WTF! I asked her to look into it but she never got back to me. I looked it up and everything I come across clearly states that the fuel and air filter should be replaced at every second oil change. Not condition based. I'm so sick of these people not knowing there head from there as*. Have any of you had trouble with this?

My understanding is that now the fuel filter change is at 3 th oil change.

I dont think they've ever done mine either. Its not in CBS. I will post the CBS document later.

Just got an update. So I was right after all. My service advisor called me back and told me that the fuel filter is supposed to be replaced at every second oil change

So make sure you all get your fuel and intake air filter replaced every second oil change. If they refuse, refer them to the attached file. It states this on page 11;

Technically its not CBS, you are correct. But the system is supposed to connect them when they do a key reader. Guess its not connecting them anymore.

Yah, buddy. The service folks WILL NOT catch this unless you tell them to. They are useless to pretty much anything that is not directly told to them by the CBS. I can not comprehend why we must manage our own maintenance schedules due to the negligence of our "luxury" service providers...absurd.

I don't think it's the SAs necessarily. Some are very good and excel in the position in which they we trained. The problem seems to be that with a fancy computer telling you what to do all the time it is easy to forget the Vehicle Maintenance 101 stuff that keeps your car on the road and they are obviously not trained or held accountable for knowing things outside of the box known as CBS and putting them to use to provide a seamless service experience for the client.

Just don't expect your oil to look golden brown when you do change it. It will look just as black as it did before you changed it in no time flat.

If there is anything to change sooner than the recommended interval it would be the fuel filter.

I'm currently at 27,500 kms (17,000 miles) on my car and was thinking of changing the fuel filter this spring.

IMO not too soon following the sooner than recommended anal maintenance schedule. I would do it every 20k.

Now that we are talking about service advisors, does anyone know of any good one's in my area? I am in southern california. Pomona to be exact. It would be nice to find a service adviser that is also a forum member. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
