Resurrecting the thread.
I'm having a burning smell issue as well. Not really seeing any smoke, but I know it's there. Comes through the vents when the fan is going, not noticeable when I'm moving. One thing that I noticed just today is that after I got home from work & parked, I noticed that the smell is prominent at the front of the engine bay. I sniffed around the rest of it, & didn't smell anything. But when I got to the front, near the OFH, the smell was strong. No leak from the OFH, & has a new gasket. Is there a specific location where the valve cover is notorious for cracking? |

Hey Guys,
I am having a similar problem. I have taken it to two indy's the first said that both turbos are leaking and need replacing. The second said that they have never heard of the actual turbo's failing on these cars (even ones pushing 500+hp) and in their experience it is usually something else. They reported oil leaking from the front side of both turbos and oil soaked drain lines. Their recommendation was to replace to aftermarket pcv valve, replace valve cover and install catch can. I am wondering however could it just be damaged oil drain lines/gaskets? I do not get any smoke whatsoever just burning oil smell. Car has 98,000 miles. Also i did check the pcv check valve hose that goes into the intake and there was quite a bit of oil in it. Is that normal? Thanks |
