window tint scratches

ok so i noticed a deep scratch on both front windows in the same spot. at first i thought it was the felt but the tinting guys said this was not the case since my car has the nice felt but looks like something in the door is rubbing on the tint and causing the scratch.. they told me to take the door appart and see if this is indeed the case.. anyone else have this issue or am i just special?

I have this problem right now. Cant offer much advice as its my first time with tint. I have considered taking it back to the place and seeing if they could do something. I'd love to hear if anyone has any fix for this, a spray on material of some kind that could smooth out/fill in/even out the scratch?

My bet is the felt or absence of in early production cars. MIne did, tint replaced and did it again so I live with it, not the tint guys fault and I'm not goign to make him replace it every year he has to make a living too.

no they took a look at it and said it shouldn't be the felt. i need to take pics but there is a spot on the window that looks like it hits and then scrapes the rest of the way down the window. unless it's a rock i doubt dust could do this. my car has the felt on the window scrapers

Inside the door is a second hard plastic weatherstrip that scratches the tint.

Time for invisishield to start inventing scratch proof tints for cars instead of iPhones.

If an invisishield cost like $10 for just an iPhone face, how much would it cost to tint a whole car? Like 5 grand!

Got my car tinted last week. I roll the window down today for the first time and I notice there's a scratch in it after I closed the window.

It's def something along the lines of the actuator or some internal component. I have the issue in my E90 and noticed its the same exact scratch pattern I had in my E39... Weird.

Look a couple of posts up. It's the hard plastic that has no felt on it causing the scratches.

Just put some Tint Protector felt on it and your done.

mine has some too, just gotta deal with it, as the felt doesn't make much difference.

Dude? Your crazy. After I installed the Tint Protector felt my new tint has ZERO scratches and I installed it over two years ago.

You must have installed it incorrectly or maybe you had those scratches before you installed it OR you used a cheap crappy moleskin felt.

Tint Protector is the best hands down. Nothing compares. IMHO.
