The Squeeling Brakes / Wheel / Whatever
ITS DRIVING ME INSANE !
I have like 40% brake left on the pad and its acting like I got 10$. The sound started at 60% with the OEM brake pads. It seems like other 335i are affeected by the squeeling plague. Just about any 335i I ride next to I hear their squeeling also. What are people doing to cure this sickness ? Edit: Sorry if I posted on the wrong board, move if needed. |

I know exactly what your talking about. Check your pad wear sensor, they are progressive (making them thicker) and sometimes make contact with the rotor. Im debating just pulling them out all together (as Ive done on all of my BMW's).

I have the same issue. Started squeeling about a month ago. It doesn't do it all the time and when it does it's the initial press on the break that causes it. If I lift my foot off the break and press again it doesn't do it. I just had my car in for service and I asked them to take a look at my breaks and SA said my breaks looked fine. Looking at the breaks I would say I have a about 50% left on them.

The squeal is most likely the pad vibrating against the caliper.
Take the calipers off and put some anti squeal paste on the pads and you should be fine. Thread moved.

It's the Abs sensor. Have them file it down

I had this same problem. It pissed me off so much. Only thing that made it go away was new pads. which took me a while to get to. thank god I was under warranty.
I would literally go out every night after work and SLAM on the brakes until I wore them out enough haha. if it wasnt still under warranty i would not have done that. they kept telling me BS for this or that until they were replaced.

I'm having the same issue as well...
We have the 100k factory extended warranty and I'm at about 55k miles. My brake pads have at least 40% life remaining as well. Squealing big time! So I took it to the dealership and they wouldn't cover the problem under the warranty of course, but they said all 4 of my rotors had developed a ring on them and the pads were vibrating when they would catch that ridge. They said I'd need to replace the rotors and pads and they'd love to do it for me. Starting to sound more like a situation BMW is aware of but may be trying to whisk under the rug in pursuit of profits... Burned me up, so I wrote BMW Corporate and they responded by the girl leaving about a 3 second message! It makes no sense to me that BMW won't cover a defect that they know isn't caused by driving style but faulty parts. Plus why would they want people driving around with squeaky bimmers?! I was hot, but I pretty much let it go and figure I'll just go with an Audi next go round... I'm thinking about breaking down for a brake package. No BBKs but something decent. Any suggestions? Or group buys anyone knows about?

LOL...everyone is having this issue. How do you take off the brake sensor? I would love for the squealing to stop...its sort of embarrassing. I hate to drive such a nice car with squealing since I always look down upon all squealing cars LOL.

me 2, squeals like a beech when I'm at my work parking garage and everyone looks.
it seems getting aftermarket rotors and pads are the only real permanent fix for this issue |

anyone with speed delimiter getting 10000000 miles past due on brakes? Seems like every time I break 155 I get the brake light on, check it and they say brakes are 100% gone. I know enough to use the transmission to slow down from insane speeds like that, never use the brakes but it seems like I may as well have... sensors start squealing and service soon light comes on. When they scan my key, the SA is like WTF? A million miles past due?

Little update:
Took my car in to the dealership because my service engine soon light came on and to have a few things done before summer. Plus I wanted to revisit the screeching brake situation. The Service advisor told me that they contacted BMW and were waiting to see if they would basically "Comp" me a brake job. I asked her if there was a TSB from BMW telling of complaints from many customers complaining about screeching brakes. She said basically she wasn't supposed to say, but she said she did see something that indicated i wasn't alone. It's kinda sounding like they may be coming around. Hopefully they'll just go ahead and replace them entirely, as it's obvious the parts they're using are sub-standard. I'll keep the forum updated as to where they go with this. It could be a sign of a possible admission of liability on BMWs part...

Update:
Our dealership is going to cover all costs with changing the front rotors and pads! This was nice news as the screeching was driving me batty and I was pissed that the extended warranty wasn't going to cover it. BMW's all right with me on this one... I'd advise anyone with the same problem to go to your dealer and say that you had your brakes checked and there should be no way they're squealing. If you mention that online many people have been mentioning this same problem that may help as well. Stay persistent with them. I think it's wise to always excuse the dealership when you're angry and focus your ire on the manufacturer when you communicate with the service advisor too. It never hurts if the rep is on your side...

I used to have this issue, they replaced the rotors and brake sensors and have never had the sound since.
