Aus 335i aftermarket fitting issues
Hey
Have you had an experience with any parts not fitting RHD Aus cars? I have a few aftermarket parts that i was not able to fit. One is the intercooler pipe from a godspeed intercooler. the j pipe couldnt possibly work any way i had it. currently is cut up in pieces an tac welded to fit. The other is a reputable charge pipe. The charge pipe wont fit on the throttle body with the angle needed as it hits the turbo intake pipe. I have contacted one vendor about charge pipe and they said it fits RHD cars. I have fit all parts to my car. I am not able to get chargepipe more than half way on the throttle body, because it is unable to be fitted square. So I tried taking throttle body off and connect charge pipe first but unable to put charge pipe on throttle body as the pipes are too tight even with no O ring i cannot get them to fit. At the moment i have a dodgy J pipe join and a Chargepipe sitting unused. Cheers |

Sorry to hear about your hassles. As far as I am aware, items like intercoolers and charge pipes are not really an issue with fitment from US-made LHD to our RHD cars. It's usually stuff like some down pipes. Local guys on here seem to run quite a few different makes of IC and CPs without fitment issues, myself included.
You do not mention what IC and CP you have. That could be useful as you might find others have got these to work on their cars. Last edited by JJH; 08-29-2013 at 07:27 PM.. |

Godspeed intercooler and j pipe.
BMS charge pipe. I know they are a good company but I cannot fit the charge pipe. Put this into perspective of my compotency I installed BMS DP and welded new bung in with no problem. |

Chargepipes and FMICs, no difference between LHD and RHD
Intercooler J pipe, if it's for a manual specific car it will only suit a manual. If you have a 'manual' pipe it will not fit an auto. However a pipe designed to fit an auto will fit both auto and manual. Very surprised the BMS CP doesn't fit. If your car is an 07 or 08 model you will need to remove that flexible section of rubber pipe that comes off the lower intercooler piping. Post some pics? |

as you can see I am unable to install the cahrgepipe as it hits on the intake pipe and does not allow it to become square on the throttle body.

The intake pipe is pretty flexible, aren't you able to bend it up out of the way?
Strange as I haven't had a problem before installing ER or BMS Chargepipes. |

The intake is getting pushed hard against the alternater with no more flex to allow the CP to be square on the throttle body.
I never forced it too much as the OEM CP fits in wiothout touching it, so i was assuming the new CP had the angles wrong. I'll have another go and try to taking throttle body off and fitting CP to throttle body first and see what happens. Last edited by Brule; 09-02-2013 at 02:16 AM.. |
