Hey Gents,

I can appreciate your concerns with regards pricing.

However please be aware that the cost of the "In-Boot Meth' Tank" is for a one-off unit.

This is not something Peter expected to be selling in quantity, which is in contrast to our oil cooler kits, radiators and flywheels that I have priced very aggressively.

The prototype product was completed at the request of a local customer here in Sydney.

We are not making any real money from the components used and are charging accordingly, for the labour required by our in-house fabricator.

The tank components are all of a very high quality and unfortunately for us to purchase them, they cost what they cost.

As an example the "AERO" flush mount cap for the E92 version, is of aviation-grade and it will never leak.

It is supplied by Earl's who source the part directly from England.

Yes we could have used something that cost considerably less, but that is not what the customer requested nor is it Peter's style to fabricate a "one-off" product, to a budget price point.

I have a CM 2.3 gallon "Pro Tank" in the boot of my 135i.

Whilst it has worked well, I welcome a super discreet option such as our prototype tank.

I will most definitely be replacing my not so discreet CM tank, once I have completed the twin-plate clutch upgrade on my 1'er.

Cheers,

JD.

Where would the pump be mounted in that case? That's a great looking design but i do prefer it in the washer fluid tank

Hey dzenno,

for the E92 we have a few pump locations in mind.

We will finalise a pump location once we have completed a production unit of the tank.

I can appreciate why some owners are more than happy to run Meth' from their windscreen washer bottles, however given the weather conditions here in Aus I like to be able to clean my windscreen between washes.

Not something I would like to do with a 70/30 mix or greater, for fear of getting it on the paintwork.

Hi Gents,

here is a post from the 1Addicts Aus forum and my response, that may be a matter of interest for you.

Hey mate,

if we utilise the same "AERO" flush mount cap for the E82 version, it will cost a little more as the larger tank will require more material and more fabrication time.

However as the E82 version potentially has a much larger volume, we could go with a screw-in cap which would reduce the costs somewhat, compared to the flush mount cap required for the smaller E92 version.

Lastly after much deliberation on the part of myself and Peter we have decided to take a hit on the fabricating costs, in order to bring the overall price of the unit down.

As such we will now be offering the E92 version for $545.00, excluding powder coating.

The powder coating will be an option and it will cost around $35, I will confirm the exact price shortly.

Cheers,

JD.

just skimmed the thread, but why not just make a cheaper plastic version to sit in there?

good luck with those prices...

Hey guys,

here is a post from the N54 Turbo Engine / Drivetrain / Exhaust Modifications - 335i forum and my response, that I thought may be of interest for some readers.

Hey dzenno,

whilst I appreciate your concerns regarding the corrosive nature of Meth', I would much rather have a stealth aluminium tank in my boot, than a highly obtrusive plastic tank.

That being said, in an effort to further improve our products, I'm more than happy to listen to feedback from fellow enthusiasts.

As such we are now looking at "Anodizing" the "In-Boot Meth' Tank".

If this can be done cost effectively, the aluminium tank will now be highly resistant to Methanol induced corrosion.

It would seem Australian customers are far more receptive to our prototype stealth tank, possibly due to the fact that in Aus' a Police Officer would not hesitate to defect a late model BMW, if he knew Methanol was being stored in the vehicle.

Unfortunately that is a serious matter here resulting in not only a hefty fine, but also a loss of demerit points.

Hi Gents,

here is a cheeky cut and paste from the 1Addicts forum, that may also be of interest to you.

I suspect you are referring to the below post by dzenno and my subsequent reply.

FYI,

the Meth' tank will be still be made of aluminium, the anodizing process increases the surface thickness, of the naturally occurring rough layer of aluminium oxide.

The carefully formed layer of aluminium oxide is substantially thicker and harder, making it very much resistant to Meth' induced corrosion.

Great idea, too expensive, even at $545. It's not as difficult as you say to make a mold of that space and fabricate a tank for it.

Hey Gents,

as promised here are some pics of the first E92 production sample.

Please note that the tank is yet to be anodized, it will be dyed black following the anodizing process.

The final pic illustrates the baffle, we have carefully incorporated into the design of the tank.

This will prevent any surging of the Methanol pump under extreme driving conditions, when the tank is low in Meth'.

Cheers,

JD.

Hey mate,

with regards the E92 oil cooler kits, we have not forgotten about them.

Unfortunately workshop servicing and repairs, prevent us from spending the time we would like to on the R&D of such projects.

Perhaps Pete will have some time to spare late next week, to make a start on the dual oil cooler set up for you 3 Series guys.

Ideally we would have a production unit or at the very least a prototype kit, installed into your vehicle prior to the Eastern Creek track day.

How does that sound Paul?
