Understood. So why not take advantage of this and run additional boost to pick up torque where the turbos have additional headroom? Your mapping on an STI, for example, calls for over 17 psi around 3,200 rpm and then tapers up top to around 13 IIRC. Is the same strategy not possible on the N54? I realize you are targeting load on this platform, so is it not possible to request additional load around 2,500 - 4,500 rpm?

Great information coming out. Thanks for your comments Rob.

Anyone have an answer to this one?

Thanks!
WGDC = Wastegate Duty Cycle. Refers to the current duty cycle being applied to the boost control solenoid.

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor. Refers to the throttle plate's current position (in this case, in percentage of opening past fully closed).

Currently we are working with the stock load/boost strategy, however we are working to modify the strategy to allow boost targeting as that seems to be what the market is asking for.

You are correct that there is safe power left on the table by keeping boost lower in the 2500-4000 RPM range. I would say anywhere from 30-50 lb/ft.

Pulling timing back in this case is leaving power on the table while being much safer. The quality of fuels, health of motors, and supporting parts dictates whether or not the motor can reach its minimum best timing. For safety reasons we leaving the timing lower and run boost to make power. In the future we will be increasing timing as we gain comfort with the variety of N54s in the market.

Rob

I think it would reasonable to ask this question after they release Stage 2.

We are heavily working on stage 2 at current, however we are behind schedule. We are very sorry for the delays. ATP and ATR should follow the release of the Stage 2 maps. I can't give a date yet, as I would hate to miss it. However, there is nothing stopping us from putting 100% effort into the Stage 2 tunes now. In the next week or two I will start posting some info on our stage 2 progress.

We are as excited to get Stage 2 and ATR/ATP as everyone here. That means I can start looking to put bigger turbos on the car I drive every day!

Cheers,
Rob

Don't "start looking", just put the RBs on and show us what a good flash can do with these

I don't think there's an OTS flash tune available for any of the upgraded turbos yet...i wonder why?

I vote for fine tuning Stage 1 for the masses - I would assume there are more folks who want to keep visually/mechanically stock cars for warranty purposes while making the most of the engine than those crazy Stage 2 folks.

You eight is about 2-3 higher than mine but we got the same trap. Maybe the weight of my car had something to.do with that. Any other n54s out there with you?
