I have E90.
I guess that is a part of E36.
Seller does not have any clue.
I googled it and found this is a part of E36, but I just wondered what was that for?

Just a capacitive interference supressor, not needed with modern direct-ignition coils.

It supresses the rapid clicking you used to hear through the radio on really old cars - as Xenon says, not required these days.
