Strange shuddering/vibrating engine....
Last night when I cranked my car the yellow servive engine light came on, and I could feel a slight shuddering, or vibrating feeling coming from the engine, there was also a slight vibrating noise, that lasted while I drove about 3 miles home, and whille my car was parked as well, I have scheduled a diagnostic appointment for Monday, but in the meantime does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this? Has anyone here had something happen like this before? My car is a 2006 325i , with about 97,000 miles.

Sounds like my car. just passed 101k miles. just had spark plugs replaced and tune up at 100k by the dealership. had some misfirings on multiple cylinders at 101k miles took it to an indy shop and had low fuel sensors replaced but iits still doing the same thing. Car runs fine but it has a rough idle. Might try the walnut shell blasting next.

No, because when I brought it in at 100k they were doing the last "free maintenance" thingy and the problem wasn't there.

I suppose it could be a number of things but it sounds like a bad coil to me. My buddies car had the same problem and we replaced the coils one by one until we found the faulty one.

I am having the same problem with my 07 wagon....
strong shudder though at around 1700 rpm, could be a misfire, causing the tranny to not want to shift...pressing the go pedal a bit helps, but I dont think the problem goes away.... Im going to check the coils tomorrow (to be sure they are attached properly and there is nothing physically wrong with any connections), do the VANOS solenoid cleaning procedure outlined here on the forum (though they say that is more for wide open throttle and idling problems) but it cant hurt, right? and see if that helps. My gut tells me its a coil, though.... Im also going to run down to Autozone and see if they will do a code check.... Keep us updated! JP |

Well I just dropped my car off and they should get to it in the morning, hopefully I will know something soon, wish me luck guys. I don't want to have to pay a fortune to fix it!

Agreed. Sounds like a bad coil and/or bad spark plug.
