AA Tune yes or no

Guys I needed some advise, currently the only performance mods i have on my car are the BMW PE and BMS PBX. When I had heard about the AA Tune their where no shops near that would do it so I just forgot about it. Well now I have a shop near me here in Dallas and Im wondering is the tune worth it even though i don't have the 3 stage intake manifold? Am I just better off keeping the BMS PBX or is the tune that much better then the PBX. I've heard rave reviews about the AA Tune but most people have the 3 stage intake manifold to compliment it and basically completing the 325i to 330i conversion. So Im basically asking, is it worth it or Im just better off saving my money? Thanks!

UPDATE!!!

Just got the tune done yesterday at Gtech Imports in Dallas. They sure took their time, went in at 11 AM got it back at 4 PM, other then that my experience with them was fine.

Short Review

To be comletely honest at first I didn't really notice much. As I drove along I noticed the throttle lag was greatly improved. Didnt really notice any kind power difference. It felt as though the throttle response just gave a feeling of greater power. I guess my expectation were a little high due to some great reviews by some other fourm members who've done this tune as well. Its a good tune but as of right now I don't feel like this was worth $600.00 I spent. ($499.00- Tune, $100.00 install) But Ive only put on about 150 miles since the tune and I've heard it takes anywhere from 500-1000 miles for the tune to fully adapt. So I will do another in detail review after Ive let the tune fully adapt. So lets wait and see...

I would go with the AA tune. It provides the throttle remap you get from the PBX along with some performance improvements. If you decide to get the 3IM later, you won't have to wry about getting another tune.

+1 for yes. Most customers rave about the greater throttle response and overall drivability of their cars after this tune.

Mike any chance for more holiday sales with the tune and free tool? Or was that only for N54, N55's?

It's more like version 2.0. They only offer one version, though certain things can be adjusted depending on your car based on your VIN, octane preference, and certain mods. I think Andrew has said that the ecu allows enough variation in timing, fuel, etc. to allow it to compensate for aftermarket intakes and exhaust systems.

As far as recommendations though, I would say it's made the biggest difference out of the intake and exhaust modifications I've done to date. I had the tune done first and don't regret it. I haven't used the JB, so I can't compare it to that, but the difference is certainly noticable and fun to boot!

So basically stage 2 is just to make it more personal to your car depending on the mods you already have on it?

AA tune is good for me, I have the stage 2 and a noticeable improvement. I don't have the 3 stage manifold.

You have the BMS powerbox. From what I've read, the throttle mapping on the most sensitive map sounds more sensitive than the throttle mapping changes with the AA tune. Maybe ask other folks who've tried both?

So, if you love the sensitive mapping on the powerbox, maybe you won't want to give it up(?) or maybe you can run the powerbox with the AA tune?

Vendors are listed on the website. The software is only avialable from the ones listed in red.

http://www.activeautowerke.com/dealers.php

The other options are mailing your ecu or ordering a simon porgramer from them and uploading the tune yourself.
