Cheapest way to get iphone idrive connectivity?

I just got a cpo 335i, and am wondering what the cheapest option would be to hook my iphone up to the idrive in my car. I called the dealer about their ipod adapter and its $345 for the part and $500 for the install - which to me seems like a lot. Is there a comparable third party adapter? Is it possible to to buy the part online and get a non-dealer shop to install it? It seems like a pretty involved install otherwise I'd attempt it myself.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you looking to hook it up for use as an iPod or as a cell phone?

If you just want the phone aspect, it should be able to link via bluetooth no??

Yea I can use the bluetooth for phone stuff, but I want to be able to navigate the music on my iphone.

I thought I saw a third party adapter that hooks up your iphone to the idrive and makes it behave the same way as a data cd with folders of mp3s..

I think the company's name started with a B but I am not sure, does anyone know what I'm talking about?

For this your car needs to have the bluetooth and USB options installed. If the car was not built with the USB option, I think you can retrofit the iPod option which will let you connect your iPod and perhaps browse folders and such but you will not be able to connect other USB devices like a flash drive.
