Strange noise coming from under the hood

I have this strange noise coming from under my hood after I lock my car and I have no idea what it is.

Found this clip online and sound is identical

Running JB4 on Map 1 also

I believe it's the low pressure fuel pump priming.
happens when you unlock your car or open your doors or trunk... it primes to prepare for you to start your car.

Agreed, sounds like a pump priming. BUT, it shouldn't take that long. Could it be something clearing the lines or a reservoir as a preventative measure of some sort?

OP, does it do this every time, regardless of ambient air temp and engine temp? My N55 makes noise too, but not like that...

You have a procede? If so it is one of the connectors.

His signature indicates a JB4.

You know now that I think of it, it started happening the same night my engine oil light turned on... I did put oil it in it but I haven't had a chance to go out for a drive, will update tonight if the sound is still there or not!

Okay so my engine oil is okay, But I still have the sound whenever its measuring and I can only hear it outside when i lock the car the sound goes away about 2-3 seconds after. Should I make a trip to BMW?

If it were me, I would never take it to a BMW dealer again. Exceptions being: safety/defect recalls.

Personally, I would:
1) Research as much as possible on the internet. If you find multiple sources indicating the same issue, follow that. You shouldn't go in a particular direction based solely on one post or advice from one person.
2) Find an indie who specializes in foreign cars / BMWs. They can have VERY reasonable labor hours, and will often give you good sound advice for free.
3) As a LAST resort, go to the BMW dealership. The dealerships are highly overrated and overly expensive. Plus, in my experience, are not as knowledgeable as your standard DIY guy.

In your case, take the engine cover off and the acoustic cover off, and see if you can better pinpoint the source of the sound. Could be the water pump, could be the fuel pump, who knows. Is it making the noise while the engine is running as well as when it's not running?

Do you think the car has been running any differently? You indicate it started happening after the oil light came on. Have you changed your oil lately?

I'm still under warranty and I do have extended warranty as well, so it looks like a trip to BMW is going to be the way to go. It's just strange because I think the sound only happens when it's measuring the oil level haven't had enough time to pinpoint it exactly

Hey, Which connector on the JB4 would it be? I took it to my mechanic at BMW who used to for LTMW and he changed the oil sensor and everything and said its possibly the tune causing it

I have a procede and I think it was on the bigger left connector. I think the gray smaller subconnector. On the procede there is a three way connector that came loose on mine and made the sound you have.

Okay, So I took the JB4 and the car his been running fine for over 2 weeks now, No strange sounds, No low engine oil. Now what do I do? Should I try reinstalling the tune? I messaged Burger and they said the JB4 wouldnt cause that problem in the beginning
