Brakes starting to grind HELP!
Hey guys as always thanks for your help!
Recently my "brake" light came on couple weeks ago. I was originally going to wait till after the summer for my 60k check up to do all needed maintenance done at once. I am now at 58k and just started hearing a grinding noise when i apply the brake. I bought the 2007 e90 335i as a NON-CPO and at 44k. I am new to BMW and just wondering what I am in need of buying. I am looking to order the parts online and bring it to a indy shop or get someones help Right now I understand I need rotors and pads but is that all? What about sensors/ brake lines. I was thinking of going with the replacement stop-techs or something similar for everyday use. Also thinking about going with stop-tech street-pads. Also what website/shop would be the cheapest and what do you think would be a ballpark for the parts? Im located in SO-CAL. Thanks for everyones help! |

There is one brake pad wear light for the front and one for the rear. Which light came on? If you are going to change to non OEM pads and rotors, you might want to do both front and rear regardless of which light came on. You will need to replace the sensor also since the warning came on.

If you shop around you can find great deals. I ended up spending a total of $400 for 4 new ecs geomet slotted rotors(got them locally for literally 50% off though), all new oem brake pads, and 2 new oem sensors. Took me several hours to install everything but really impressed so far. My light came on as well before i replaced everything, its easy to reset.

all you need is new rotors, pads, and a front and rear sensor. you do not need new brake lines. a good place to get everything would be ecstuning.com. they have a bunch of aftermarket options as well as oem bmw equipmement as well.. they sell all the pads, rotors, and sensors.

I bought the sensors off eBay. Dont need new brake lines. If you look in the DIY section, they have write ups for both the front and back. Follow those and you should be good.
