Cleaning out the intake manifold... anything else worth checking?
Got a can of BG Throttle Body Cleaner and figured I will do a general clean up on the weekend.
At 70k Miles now... car model/make under my user name. So far thinking... - Replace intake manifold gasket - Clean out DISA valves - Manifold itself... Anything else worth a check or clean when down there? Thanks |

You're wasting your time. The problem isn't the inlet manifold, but the carbon caked to the backs of the inlet valves. And that can only be removed by walnut blasting - cleaner won't touch it.
And AFAIR, your engine doesn't have DISA valves...

It has a two stage Phil. Two DISA's and is 2.5 not 3.0.
Port injection and not direct injection so... I think it is worth a clean as I am replacing the oil separator and breather this weekend so it might be gunked up but will have a look once in there. We'll see how I get on and report back if it was worth it... |
