Nice! Glad you like it.

I just fed my mod bug a bit, too. Installed black/white roundels and I LOVE them. I was timid about messing with the 'classic' BMW scheme, but it really does look great with AW and matte grills + blacklines and tinted amber. Very glad I did it.

Word of warning though, I ordered them off ebay from the guy in Taiwan... It took 16 days to get here, and the front and trunk roundels were crooked. I had to do some modifications to fix them, but they look great now! I'm still pleased even though the buying experience wasn't all that great.

Hey Volks, I was reading all of the threads regarding the SIB that BMWNA has released about looking for aftermarket tunes on the N54....have you guys received this bulletin, and if so, how are you handling it?

ive heard of the SIB but really man we only have an issue if something goes wrong..if your car comes in for an oil change or something and i see you have an exhaust..i dont like put a comment on your ticket saying you have an exhaust and your warranty is void...now if you blew a turbo...and for some reason it came back that maybe your exhaust is the cause..then you may have a problem

I heard that cars with a 3/08 build are able to "try" to see tunes going into the ECU, even though a few still work on it without it detecting them.

I have seen that a few stock cars have the wastegate issues and are blowing
turbos. I have seen one with a tune that blew a turbo though, so ya never
know stock or modified a car can have problems.

Alpine, you have removed the Intake Silencer right? Does that just change the sound or
improve anything else that removing the Carbon Filter Improved?

Honestly I'm not too sure because I did the two at the same time. It definitely didn't hurt anything, and IMHO it made the idle more of a growl. I really don't think it has any performance effects other than sound. Do it.

I got a plug for it at Home Depot. Search the DIY thread- I posted the part number for it and everything.

Lay the tape over the amber starting from the back of the headlight moving to the center. Once you're satisfied you have it all covered, peel from the back forward so it comes off in one piece. Take that piece and stick it to the tint. Cut around the tape. Peel the tape off the tint, peel off the clear backing of the tint... hose down your headlight with soapy water, and stick it on.

When I cut around my tape template I usually cut a bit extra around it just to make sure. I also used an Xacto knife to shave of bits of overhang on the headlight.

Use a credit card to push out the fluid underneath the tint and when you're done, zap it with a heat gun/hair dryer to make it shrink to the headlight. Don't do it too much or you'll tear it.

I did all that except when I cut the tint, I used an Xacto knife the whole time.
I guess cutting with scissors first and then using Xacto would work.

Ohh well I need more tint anyways, my brother tried tinting someones tails
and he messed it up

The template wasnt to hard with all the tape

Yeah I just used regular scissors for the cutout. The hardest part for me was peeling the tape off the tint after I cut it. Also, when you lay the tint down and put the template over it, the template gets distorted because the light is curved yet you cut the tint on a flat surface, so it doesn't fit perfectly. That's why I just a bit outside each time just to make sure I've got enough to play with. It took me about 3 tries to get one that I liked. Just keep trying and you'll eventually get it.

i read that SIB for the n54...and so you know bmw can tell if the box is there via fasta data which is sent every time a short test is done and the tech quits out of the scan. the bulletin is more for the fact that the stock turbos blow not that the engine is really in danger...

So, do you think I should take everything off when I come in for an oil change?

Hmm I think you might be fine if all they are just changing is the oil, but then
again Volks would know.
I mean if anyone at the dealer knows you have JB2 then probably doesn't.

Now if right at the time you get to the dealership and your turbos blow, then you are SOL. This is theoretical mind you haa

BTW, Alpine this time I cut it with scissors and it looks so much better!

well in all honesty once its there its stored..and even for an oil change we do a standard scope which is basically just a scan of the car, if theres any bad faults we see whats up if there is just BS we reset in the oil service indicator and clear it all..but even still fasta data is sent once closing out of that...so idk?

That's what I would do. Definitely not worth the risk- especially since it's a lease.

335i is fast enough for me stock, I wouldnt want a box.

Age+experience=FTW
Low age+less experience+box+still smart driver=2 much power
Low age+just right amount of power=FTW

Even though the 335i stock isnt really that fast I wouldnt want
anymore power than that, at least not until I got bored
of it like my car haha.

Im going to BMW today!! My dad is thinking about making the
switch and waiting for the F01 7 series. We are just waiting to see well if it looks good. The S55 AMG is 4 years old now.
I really want him to get an M6 (M5's are 2 small for him) or
the sexy Audi R8.

m5s and m6's are pretty similar in size..just the body is set up differently with the m6 having a longer front end and smaller rear...but yea 335s are ok stock...but they arent that fast? maybe you havent really driven alot of fast cars but after owning a 400+whp turbo'd car and working on a ton of other highly modified cars...they arent that fast..even a 335 with a box is just to me a fun daily...its not like its something thats scarey fast? hell for a while i even owned a 550+whp 04 mustang cobra...now THAT was stupid fast haha..but yea on the new 7 deal...if your looking to get an early one be prepared for alot of issues..since well...theres going to be ALOT of new technology..and from what ive heard of the past 7 release..it was interesting to say the least haha.
